Tamiya M4A3E8 Up armoured
Re: Tamiya M4A1E8… again
I did - then I swapped it with a mate for something different.
Then he swapped the turret with me for the Tamiya 105mm turret lol
It’s a well detailed kit, but it’s no Tamiya to put together. Lots of sprue attachments and sink marks.
New turret update coming this week.

We have lights - swapped out the MF and DMD from a spare Pershing I have in order to have recoil and other functions.
This light unit is a fibre optic version found in the JS2.

Not a lot of progress to show - been working on the Tiger I.
MK Modellbau barrel arrived through so can move on with the turret!

MKmodellbau will have the barrel.

Yep - just arrived the other day

Update time…
Had a mate with the Andy’s turret, got rotation and elevation/recoil working but the turret was too big for the cast hull!
Debated cutting the cast hull about, debated cutting the turret about - both a no to be able to look half decent.
Crazy me decided to buy a Tamiya M51 turret, cut off the bustle and fit the bustle from the Andy’s T23 turret
Mantlet narrowed to fit the Tamiya turret.
Cupola pinched from the Andy’s turret too as it’s more detailed.
Recoil, election and rotation all sorted.
Just some filler and sanding to do…

AdLav!
Pretty Cool Results! You used the best from all the Parts you sourced ( some because you needed to ) and really come up with a Winner. Following along.

Re: Tamiya M4A1E8… again
If you remember and have or have ever seen the Mato plastic M4, you know that the turret looks way oversized. The turret looks like a pillbox on a cast Sherman hull. I have often thought about converting to a cast turret on that tank, but when a tank is out of production I hesitate to alter it. I know that's silly, but I have so many projects that I am sure I am silly. Now if I had or could afford a second plastic Mato M4, I would be all for the conversion.

Great job so far. On my future M4A1 project i'm planning to use Taigen turret which is a little bit better in case of dimensions, I'm still waiting for the announced M4A1 plastic kits from Chinese manufacturers, maybe next year.
Re: Tamiya M4A1E8… again
Thanks for the encouragement chaps, it’ll be fine once filled and sanded, just a long journey to get there!
Apparently the Andy’s turret is spot on for size and detail. The Tamiya M51 turret is a tad out of shape and too narrow. The cast hull is 2mm too narrow.
Cut and shut at its finest!
