Replacement gear

Hey guys. Anyone know where I can get replacement gears for this?
Is it possible to replace them with metal gears?
Or even 3d printed?

It’s the elevation gearbox for my Henglong 1:8 Metal Tiger I
Also anyone know what is the switch called and where to get a replacement?

These are links just for similar items that you are looking for but it should give you a base to search from. If you can get any information off of your original parts it should narrow the search down considerably ie the gearboxes come in 6v, 12v or 24v and a variety of rpm's so if you know that it should be a straight swap, Hope this may be of some help

Maybe try some of the UK based specialist gear companies...there's plenty around, just do a search for "small gears for model makers" or something like.
The micro switch looks pretty common too, try RS Supplies.

Normally there will be a sticker on the unit denoting the voltage and rpm, I imagine that as it's only used for elevation you do not want a very high rpm as it doesn't require much speed, for example hooben uses the same type gearbox motors on their British mkiv tank which are 6v and 40rpm, if you look at videos of these you will notice how slow they are, the majority of these units that you can buy now have steel and brass gears fitted so they should be more than suitable for the elevation function

I forgot to mention in my previous post that there are also different shaft options available on those gearboxes, it doesn't show which type you have on yours in your picture so thought it worth a mention, they come with either 6mm or 8mm shafts and can be solid or have an M3 threaded hole in them and be of different lengths, there is also a threaded shaft option. If you know the measurements and type of shaft that you need again that should narrow your search down

The broken gear looks like paxolin/SRBP (synthetic Resin Bonded Paper) or similar? I'm guessing that the microswitch failed and the gear overran? Paxolin being a designed weak point, I guess at least the motor was protected.

If you haven't found a solution yet, I'd just like to suggest that the broken gear looks an ideal candidate for repair using Araldite or JB Weld - or similar - using a mould (or mold) made by pressing an unbroken gear into Plasticine. You can also use the broken gear to make the indentation for the casting by rotating the broken/unbroken portion to create a complete circumference of teeth positions. I'd recommend cleanly cutting away the broken teeth to leave a wedge shape slightly beyond the original tooth depth to assist with bonding. Then you can place the broken gear into the Plasticine impression and fill with the 2-part filler of your choice. Of course, thorough cleaning of the surface with acetone etc will also help with bonding.

Exactly! That'd be my first or second call, which is why I suggested Toucan Hobby above. These are the folks and companies selling it, and they almost always have at the bottom of their listings to call them for any parts you need. Why guess at parts for your $9000(!) tank when you can get the correct part from them? Maybe even a manual ?!
