Torro/Taigen project questions, IR, barrel smoke?

Hey guys I'm in the planning stage for a potential Torro/Taigen Tank project and I'd like to know some things. It will be a late model Tiger I.

1. Is the current Torro/Taigen IR compatible with Heng Long and Tamiya. I used to know it wasn't but then I stumbled across this "IR signal converter"- https://www.motionrc.com/collections/cu ... orop-01006

Any experience?
Does it work?
How well does it work?
What does it take to install? Is it painless of complicated and difficult?

2. I see that the newer Torro IR tanks have barrel flash and recoil. Would it also be possible to install the barrel smoke system like the Heng Long Tanks offer? or is that just a Heng Long thing?
