My Taigen Tiger 1 (Metal Edition-Airsoft) arrived and there's no barrel recoil. I verified that it has the V3 board and airsoft unit. Imex says there should be barrel recoil + track recoil. There's sound, track recoil, the airsoft fires but no barrel recoil. I checked all the connections and there were no issues.
Thoughts on how to diagnose what's causing the problem?
I should note that my Tiger arrived damaged. I contacted the seller who said I could return it or they'd send me a new hull. Before taking the hull, I wanted to make sure that nothing else was damaged. So I'm not sure if I'm just missing/wrong about the recoil or whether it was damaged as well.
I've attached a couple of pics in case I did misidentify it. Also, it does look like a corner is broken of f.
Thanks!

Re: Taigen Tiger 1 (Metal Edition-Airsoft #12030) No Barrel Recoil???
FWIW, I also have a Taigen Tiger I Metal BB tank. Mine is 2 years old so while it does have the track recoil it does Not have the barrel recoil. So with that I looked at my turret and it's not the same so I couldn't comment of help you there.
But,
With what we spend on these tanks especially a Full Metal Taigen. If you received it damaged especially after contacting them. I would return it for a new item that is in perfect undamaged running order.
If it was a cheap $99.-$150. Heng Long tank from a shady Ebay seller I would entertain working on it or trying to fix it. But I know the Taigen stuff is north of $500. And Taigen as a company in my experience has been awesome to deal with. Heck I ordered stuff from them 2 days ago and had no issues when I contacted them to reroute my delivery.

if airsoft model, no cannon recoil, system incompatible with BB shooting, there was cannon recoil, by servo, as indicated in the Taigen ad, but not sure that BB shooting was done? the pinion you see? (red arrow) this is normal on this type of mechanism. To have a recoil, you have to adapt another system, but it will no longer fire BBs. On an airsoft, the ball is propelled by a mechanism which compresses a spring, at the end of which is a rubber piston, and when triggered, compresses the air which expels the ball.

I have not had any trouble with Imex at all, and I have ordered a number of Taigen tanks from Imex, though not in the last few years. Taigen (and Torro) BB (Airsoft) tanks did not have barrel recoil until quite recently, and those new ones come at a considerable increase in price (like everything else shipped overseas). Imex is advertising BB Tiger 1s both with and without barrel recoi.. Can you post here or PM to me the exact URL of the specific page advertising the tank your ordered from Imex.
If you take Mr. Chef's top photo and imagine turning it 90 degrees counter-clockwise, you will see the same open brass-colored gear and notched opening adjacent to it as that to which your red arrow points. See if any of this helps. I will be gone through Sunday (2/19), but I have a number of Taigen Tiger 1s (although none with recoil) that I can check for the same open gear and adjacent notch.

Thanks for all of the replies.
I got it from an online retailer in Canada via ebay. They've actually been pretty good about everything. I was crushed (no pun intended) when I opened the box and saw the hull. This was to replace my Heng Long T1, which was a Christmas present but got returned after it failed within two hours of operation. That, plus I can't find any in-stock at anywhere close to what I paid. So it was either get the new hull, wait until April when Imex expects another delivery or pay $100+ more than I paid for this one.
And I checked and there's no servo, so it looks like it functions as intended. It must be an older version. Oh, well *SHRUG*

If the eBay listing/description said recoil then recoil it should be! You might be past eBay's "not as described" guarantee, but the seller has an obligation to make things right--refund, exchange, partial refund at the very least.
I've been a seller on eBay for 10 years and it's a responsibility I take seriously--whether it's a $10 sale or a $2552.50 sale. The buyer has to get what they paid their cash for, or it needs to be made right.
Just my outlook on the Wild West of online sales.
Mike.
