Thanks all for the welcome.
Drive shaft support bearings, and hull magnets ordered. I have JB Marineweld unopened in the garage somewhere, and various off-cuts of aluminium nosings that can be used for hull stiffening hopefully.
Got pages open on several different websites with baskets containing steel gearboxes, steel drive sprockets, etc. Just need to decide.

Hello and welcome
My late brother in law was from loch lomond
All the best
Frank
I have driven the A82 past Loch Lomond many times in an old job. Pretty much all over Scotland too. The west coast has some beautiful(the best) scenery.

You sure are welcome! Ask away with questions and do keep us informed as you make upgrades and changes. Hey, I will even check out photos of a bone stock HL Challenger II. Is it in the desert scheme or NATO camouflage?
I was going to wait till i had made some upgrades, then still be too lazy to upload pics lol. It's the desert scheme. Just picture that... but with squinty decals. Although... the NATO did tempt me. May sweet talk the wife... or go into sneaky sneaky mode, and get one in that scheme at some point, or go for the Leo.

A few of us do not consider HL entry level. Bang for the buck (or your denomination of choice). Most of my builds/rebuilds are HL. It depends on where you want to start and finish. Yes they are the bottom of the 16th price scale, but I'm glad they have offerings. I usually buy the cheapest one offered, and work from there. Of the sixteen (Heng Longs) I own, only 4 have upgraded tracks or gearboxes.
Welcome aboard, this is the best forum about. We will do our best to answer any/all of you questions.
Yeah, sorry. I meant the base/entry variant as in bog standard out the box. Only metal bits fitted are suspension arms.
