Hi, Simon from Sudbury Suffolk. I have just purchased a Tiger 1 second hand with no manuals. This is my very first Rc tank although I have sailed RC yachts before. Seems to work OK but I have a few question/ help needed from all the experts out there. One suspension arm is not sprung, just limp is it easy to access the interior to get to fix that and also it came with a bottle of smoke oil but where the hell do I put it into the tank if it is fitted with a smoke unit. Knowing how easy it is to pull apart would be great.
Thanks in advance for any help

I've got the HL Challenger 2 and on mine you flip the tank over and undo a few little screws underneath to free the hull from the chassis.
Once you've popped it apart you should be ableto see the smoker and work out where the fill point lives.

Mr Sudbury, if its a later version Tiger my assumption is that the smoker fill point is inside the covers that surround the exhausts on the rear plate.
There should be a very hard to spot end of a clear plastic tube that you can add oil into.
As for the suspension arm, there is no need to look internally for a fix.BUT is has to be a Heng Long version.
If it is, the spring may have become loose due to the arm becoming loose allowing the spring to ping around & become slack.
Each side (left or right) has its own direction to be pre-set into correct tension.

Yes, indeed, as jarndice said, the instructions are right there. I wish I had such help fifteen years ago! You may find that your HengLong Tiger I has only the screws on the bottom of the tank (all the easier). There have been slight changes over the years, but pretty much the same. Then, too, once you open up the Tiger, you will be able to see all the innards (yukk!). You will find it easier to see how the clear tube goes to the smoke unit. Go slowly with the smoke fluid and hold the tank so the fluid can flow into the smoke unit (usually involving holding the Tiger by the Tail).
Let us know how it goes (or doesn't go); these fellows have patiently answered many questions from me, too.

Whatever you do do not get a massive hang up over Tank Smokers,
Tamiya rated by those who know these things don't fit smokers so at least some commonsense exists.
Do be very sparing with your application, Just a few drops is all you will need otherwise you will flood the unit, Personally the moment my smoker fails just as your smoker will fail I strip it out because when they do work they really look quite pathetic.

Re: Heng Long Tiger 1 problems
My smoke unit was not working when I got the tank. However, on an external power source with it working, it took me all of five minutes, to realise that the experts are right as usual and the smokers are pathetic. It will not be going back into the tank!
