can a flash be added to rx18 ??

OK techno types heres a question for you

I have just fitted my P4 with an rx 18 board and everything is working great. In the days of the RX13 boards i was able to solder a little micro bulb to two points onto the main board to create a muzzle flash that accompanied the gun sound and tank recoil. My question is can this be done with an rx18 board and if so does anybody have a photo of where to solder my 2 wires to.

I tried the same thing.

For just a regular bulb, I don;t know where you would connect to the board.

I bough a cheap flash unit. The rx18 has MGFire connection (main gun fire, i think) next to infrared connection. This is where I plugged the flash unit, but no flash.

Seems like red and black go to power, and blue is trigger...yellow and brown wires connec to something?  but I don;t know..

Looking at the piccy, you need the pins at the bottom where it says turn, lift, shoot, lamp. Find the shoot pins, these should give 5v, and hook up a high intensity led to those.

I was trying to add a flash unit, not led. plugged in at "MGFIRE" Found that flash unit charges fine(don;t ask me how I know) It just did not trigger. Bad unit?

The unit will charge up from the board, but won't flash unless you have the circuit connected to the shoot circuit. Its that CN9 socket at the bottom.

The cheap flash unit...is it a Heng Long one? If so it comes with a plug.

I am guessing that the flash unit you have has a permenant live (to charge the unit) and a seperate +/- to ignite the flash (eg discharge the unit, though fingers are a good substitute!). It probably shares a common negative with something else.

Can you post up a pic of the flash unit that you have, showing the wiring and the plug, if it has one?

I have an HL flash unit in my Jagdpanther, if yours is the same I will be able to tell you where it goes. I seem to recall that it had a couple of wires dangling off it, but I haven't looked at it since I installed it early this year.
