But at the same time I would welcome some more variants of the existing mediums with out having to alter them ourself as not all of us here can
It’s your tank it’s what you make it
Re: Andy's Hobby 1/16 vehicles
I believe he says in one of the videos regarding his kits he’s looking to do allied armour because there is so little of it on the market. He was offered the early tiger 1 and couldn’t say no.
Maybe it’s just a waiting game?

If the Companies flogging Tiger 1s made genuine early Variants such as Jimsters tour de force which as far as I know is unique or a true Tunisian early ie Reverse tow ropes, double pistol ports,(No escape hatch) rectangular exhaust shrouds,PZ111/4 Turret box, flat gunners binocular sights, twin aircleaners, and Drivers binocular sights,It would make my life easier!
AND could everyone apart from Tamiya whose attention to detail is legendary get the location of the turret correct and stop duplicating the spare aerial holder!!!

Ah, you're looking for the "initial" version?jarndice wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 4:23 pm I would have hoped that someone would by now go the whole way with a Tiger 1 Early and apart from the twin drum filters and the flat gunners binocular sight as well as the drivers binocular sight, reverse the tow cables, remove the escape hatch and fit the second pistol port in it's place and remove the round mufflers and substitute them for the rectangular covers and just to push my luck have the PZ111/4 turret box![]()
Well, let's explain what would have to happen there.
The Panzer III and IV turret bins were two different things. The first Tigers were shipped with a Panzer III bin, not a Panzer IV bin. Some of them kept that bin, serving at Leningrad and Rostov and Kursk. But the ones that went to Tunisia substituted a large rectangular bin.
"Reversed tow cables" are a feature of even fewer Tigers - the first 25 approx.
You also mentioned rectangular mufflers; those were added to Tigers in Tunisia, but the Leningrad Tigers didn't have them at all.
"Initial" Tigers have a lot of features different to this new kit, e.g. the side skirts were very different, or they didn't have any skirts. The shape of the front hull was different. Mudflaps different. Tow cables were not only reversed, they were a different cable. It goes on.

Re: Andy's Hobby 1/16 vehicles
Actually it's not clear who designed this kit; Andy of hobby fame, or Takom. The usual assumption is that he contracted with Takom and they're the designers. But time will tell.
Andy said something in the announcement video that makes me believe he's not the designer.
He said that the kit has 3 options : standard Tiger, command Tiger, and "Wittman's Tiger".
But Wittman's Tiger is just one decal option on a large sheet with many decal options. There's nothing special about it.
Andy said it was a third option because of its radio configuration - but there's nothing special about its radios. If he really knew the Tiger he wouldn't have said that.
Scalemates are describing the kit as "3 in one", by the way.

Re: Andy's Hobby 1/16 vehicles
Thank you David,It has been far to long since we have heard from you, So a very warm welcome back.
What really irks me is I have spent far too much time cutting, bending and shaping the early mudflaps with not much in reference pictures to go on and yet I forgot to mention them,
I do not think I have seen any of the better known makers 1/16 Tiger 1 early's with them although ABER has them in PE I believe.

Oh I know he's not the designer, but he has been the one approving the designs and requesting changes to the kit as he is the one with his name on it. He did work with Takom and the designer to ensure the kit had a high level of detail. That was evident in the first test shots where the casting marks and name brands on the tires and stuff weren't present.DavidByrden wrote: ↑Fri Nov 11, 2022 10:46 amActually it's not clear who designed this kit; Andy of hobby fame, or Takom. Has anyone got the AHHQ Jeep yet and thought about finding rubber tyres for it?
