I installed a new RX18 board in my PZIV over the weekend and it all went smoothly except for a weird problem with the volume level. After turning the volume knob just past halfway the sound cuts out. I pulled another volume control off an old RX13 board I had lying around, connected it to the new board and the same thing happened so I don't think it's the switch.
Has anyone else come across this problem or have any idea what might be causing it? :-\
RX18 Sound Issues
Re: RX18 Sound Issues
Silly answer but have you tried wiggling the plug as i now hard wire all the speakers to the board as i get this a lot with h/long boards

Re: RX18 Sound Issues
Now I don't feel so daft.......
That hapened to me.....well what realy hapened was that I took out the old board from my pz4 with associated wiring still soldered to it.....put in place the new RX18.....then one by one, I connected new plugs to the wiring and plugged in to the new board. When it came to the volume control, I noted the colours....wrote them down...soldered on a new plug...plugged it in and the same thing happened.....low volume that went lower..then cut off.
I took a punt and reversed the wires......"simples"...well not simple, just plain jammy.
I cant get to my tanks at the moment... (they are burried in the loft as I have an impending house full of kids this weekend due to my sons wedding) so I can't check the colour code till next week. But I am sure someone can check for you.
Just one thing, all my wiring from the card to the variable resistor is of a different colour to the ones stated on the wiring diagram. You will need to know what plug pin is connected to what terminal on the resistor.
I hope this helps....Mike

Re: RX18 Sound Issues
Thanks gents, I will try both suggestions when I get home from work and let you know what happens. I followed the RX18 guide on the RCCommand website to match up the wiring colours to the volume knob but we all know Heng Long can be a bit inconsistent with their manufacturing.

Re: RX18 Sound Issues
Issue resolved. It seems I had the positive and negative wires around the wrong way. Once I swapped them it was all good again.
Thanks very much for your assistance, this forum is worth it's weight in beer
