M5 Stuart in Africa ?

Post by Captain Action »

Good Day.
My question is did the British 8th army ever use the Stuart M5 tank in the South Africa campaign or only the M4 ?
I have been looking and only find pictures of the M4 Stuart. The resin I ask is I have an 1/6 Stuart and would like to keep the dust fenders on it and detail it up as a Brit 8th tanks with out changing it to the M4.
I may make a M4 in the future if I find another spare tank..love the M4 too.
I think the Brits may of used it in Italy ?
Thanks

Yes, North Africa was the first time they were used, and by the British. It was the British that named them Stuart

Also they were on lend lease before America declared war.

Where they M5 Stuarts or M3 Stuarts?

Didn't the British called them the M3 Honey?

Apparently it was both M3 and M5 in British service. I believe it was the upgraded M5A1 that was unofficially called the Honey.

I thought there was a British service M3 in the tank museum when I visited last year.

Always had a sweet spot for the M5 Stuart as it was a 21st Century M5 Stuart that got me back into R/C tanks. It also led me to volunteering at a real tank museum.

Thank you for the information, looks like I have some more videos to watch. Love the tank museum .
The 21st century toys M5A1 Stuart is a great entry into the RC 1/6 hobby and the resin I love to Rc up other 1/6 vehicles like jeeps, Kubelwagen, white scout car, universal carriers and now a FOA Tiger 1 tank...

Thanks for the input .
