5+ foot RC Clipper
5+ foot RC Clipper
Yep, took me over a year to build this one, and not even done yet. Did it in the early 1990's. A tree fell down in my back yard and I decided to cut it up to make the frames and inner supports. whole ship is plank on frame. All handmade brass steel and wood parts. Hand made 21 sails with working rigging going to a homemade gearbox for sail control. Has about 30 lbs of lead shot for balance, probably needs more. Has a double plank on frame hull. Everything is made by me..even the deck is varnished with marine varnish. Over 9000 pieces so far.....
A little dusty as it is in storage a few hundred miles away...
Enjoy.

Well that's a great looking clipper, would like to see more of it.If you could re-size the pictures down a bit, much easier to view that way.I have done two plank on frame that are at my mom's in LA,I really enjoyed sailing ship construction but never did have the skill to go it from scratch, good job what did you use for sail cloth? And how did you tack with so much sail, must have perfect counter weight, that's alot of ship for r/c.well done Sax

It's only been in a pool. would need big pond for true tacking. The spars are proportional. not very efficient overall. Yes, heavy ballasted to waterline. Sailed without spanker. I had much better sailing with my 3 ft topsail schooner..now in mantle drydock in Florida.
