If I buy a tank in Germany from a company, presuming I'd get import duty here in the UK?
For a tank around 230 Euro, anyone an idea of charges or have you got one in without charges?

Re: Import duty from Germany to UK?
I believe that if the value is greater than £135 Gbp it will be subject to an import duty, the last time I think I got charged about 20% of the total value of the item

Before you go to a German dealer for your Tank have you tried Dave @Lenny Warren wrote:If I buy a tank in Germany from a company, presuming I'd get import duty here in the UK?

Dave is a member of the Forum based in the UK (Bedfordshire) and is probably the straightest dealer anywhere.
If it is not in stock he will get it for you and if he cannot get it he will point you in the right direction for the best deal,
Talk to him you won't be sorry.

I think I am about to upset someone

If you go to his site and click on RC Tanks I/R version and RC Tanks BB Version you will see what is in stock and what is not BUT do bear in mind what is not in stock just needs you to make a phone call or a text for Dave to get it for you

One thing to remember, import duty always takes the shipping price into account. Therefore you pay duty on the total including postal charges.

Have spoken to Dave, on it.

Re: Import duty from Germany to UK?
For the other way around (I know this because I live on the continent and am regularely forced to buy spare parts for my land rover because it is falling apart) you usually have to pay both VAT and import tax (which is around 7% AFAIK)Lenny Warren wrote:If I buy a tank in Germany from a company, presuming I'd get import duty here in the UK?

Technically this should be the same the other way around - you won't pay european (german) VAT but have to pay it on import.
