Displaying your collection
This might be a silly question, but do you guys keep the batteries inside the tanks when they are on display on shelves or store them away?

I always remove my lipos, discharge using "storage mode" and keep in fireproof bag or metal box.

Unless I don't use the tanks for more then a month or I'm out of the house for a week or more I leave my batteries in the tanks.

Re: Displaying your collection
Most good RC model shops stock or can get battery storage boxes. These are usually made in aluminium covered plywood, just like professional camera cases and will house around 12 cell packs held in precut foam padding. This keeps them safe from damage and readily available, charged or not. They are not as cheap as a Halfords plastic tool box but they really do last a lifetime.
If you then always charge, cycle etc your packs using a decent charger and the essential safety bag then both you, your friends and your models will be safe. How's that phrase go.....? Ah yes, you know it makes sense!

Leaving LiPos in a Tank is a definite no no.Although leaving any type of battery in a Tank is not a good idea. Everytime you open your Tank to remove/replace the battery is an opportunity to check the overall condition of the Tank internally as well as clean and lubricate it.delta19 wrote:Unless I don't use the tanks for more then a month or I'm out of the house for a week or more I leave my batteries in the tanks.
This is one more reason for fitting a quick release,
If it is easy to open you are more inclined to do it instead of when it leaves you with no choice.
I think I am about to upset someone

I learn so much by reading other people's questions: E.g.: "... battery storage boxes...made in aluminium covered plywood." Thank you: I didn't know about these, but will look for one.

Meh I haven't had any problems yet so I don't plan on changing my routine. Batteries are always ready to go with some charge in them and no fires.jarndice wrote:Leaving LiPos in a Tank is a definite no no.Although leaving any type of battery in a Tank is not a good idea.
