Contacted by a dealer

Post by Topper »

Hello
I received this message (on this forum) from a person I know to be a dealer.

"Hello! Saw the thread on medals insignia and memorabilia. I was wondering if any of the items you posted could be for sale? Would be interested to make offers on anything if you were looking to sell. "

I know this person "all1knew" from the Wehrmacht Awards forum, I have bought from him in the past and is nice guy to deal with, but I am here because of RC tanks and do not wish to be contacted by dealers, to this end,I have deleted my photographs of my collection. I am happy to be contacted with anything to do with RC tanks and nothing else.
Regards
Frank

Hello Frank,
I think this post should have appeared earlier in the thread in question.
But now it is too late...
The dealer probably found the pictures via Google image search.
If you show something on the internet, then you have to expect
that people will see these things that you would never show it to in person.

I hate dealers, fortunately I don’t really have anything of interest to them, apart from a genuine wwii pup tent
It’s your tank it’s what you make it

Having been in a similar situation, I would have informed said dealer that he needs to restrain his enthusiasm & stick to his own domain for doing business, and not ruin your contribution to this forum for all of us................
Your call Mr Topper, but I'd tell the joker to stay in his lane, stick his grubby fingers back in his own pocket,& put your magnificent collection back up here for us to admire & respect.
But thats me .

I'm more into militaria than modelling, but I'm a collector not a dealer. For me it's a love of history, not about making profit. Like yourself, I know the dealer, but I always advise friends and fellow collectors to sell amongst collectors. ;)

Shame you deleted your pics, as I love seeing them. Please can you reconsider posting pics? Just ignore the dealers?

Hello Frank,

I was wondering where your EK1's went to! That's too bad like MidLife said, but also like JHamm noted too...once it's out there it's out there. I've really been apprehensive about joining any groups on the web. I only belong to two. I've been a member of WA for over 16 years but haven't been active on it for about 9 years. It's a great Forum and I used it for research on some of my relics. Having professional dealers now as friends, it's of little use to me. That being said, I have nothing against reputable, ethical dealers. If they are after money only and splitting up collections, I despise them! :-< As Lenny noted, I too am a collector, not a dealer. I have never sold anything in my collection; ever, same for my firearms. Once bought, even if liked less than I envisioned, it's simply put towards the back of the gun safe. To me it's a commitment to preserve the past and the stories of those who went through these world changing events, so it's never forgotten...or repeated. The value of these items while nice is of little consequence to me. I wish the bottom would fall out of the market, then I could have a much bigger collection! If worthless to others it would still be treasured by me! :D

I too had been contacted by WA members over the years about selling something of mine that really caught their eye. Through the forum I expect and can deal with it, though mostly it is irritating. Outside the WA Forum I'd say that it's really ballsy! I have to agree with Hermann. I'd have to let him know he overstepped his bounds!

Sorry to see your pictures removed, as I love this stuff. But I do understand, and would be very pi$$ed off myself! Congrats on the KT!

All the best,
Eric.
