Here's a few pictures of this mornings work. It's amazing how much you can pick up after you get over the frustration, swearing, and loss of tiny parts!  :D
The one thing I will say though, is Aber's instructions are rubbish! I had to get most of the ideas on how to build parts from a mixture of trial and error, and other people's build photos!

But anyway, the beginnings of the cupola interior. Nothing will be attached inside th cupola yet to make it easier to paint, plus the exterior needs some work as well as Tamiya's injection molding leaves a few flaws, but i'll get to those later.

I've only done one vision port so far, im working on the rest at the moment.

Thanks Cliff, its getting easier with each piece. If anyone has any tips for putting together PE kits, im all ears! lol  :D

Does anyone have any pictures of the interior of the early cupola? Im wondering where the ballistic glass was mounted and how thick its was. Also I need to get an idea of the colour scheme it was painted in.

Cheers,
Rik

Cheers Cliff, I thought so, though i've read the underside of hatches were painted the same as the base colour of the tank to make the less conspicuous when open. I've seen some pictures of repainted Tigers in museums, like Bovington's, some had black on the facerests, im just wondering if that was accurate. Im mostly interested in the ballistic glass. I want to replicate this with perspex, im wondering if it went from the facerests right up to the slits on the outside of the cupola.
Cheers,
Rik

Thanks mate! That was exactly what I was looking for regarding the colour scheme!  ;D Now I just need to know about the glass. I imagine the glass was very thick to protect the commander.

Just a couple of pictures to show progress on the cupola. I have a silly busy week, so wont get much done. I hope im not boring everyone, I just wanted to keep a really documented build for anyone who needs help in building one of these things.  ;D

Trust me, the amount of failed attemps you guys dont see is incredible, lol.  :P

The inside of early Tigers was off white a very good match is Ford Diamond white as you have said the inside of all hatches was either Grey or Yellow with the exception of the escape hatch which was white Bovington’s Tiger was fully restored to correct colours this includes the vision blocks and handles, no idea what the thickness was
