Printers are defo made for modification, however its best to run them till they break and work out why and then upgrade them at that point. Bit by bit you can work out the best way to modify and improve them as you get to know your printer.
I have to say i do like being able to get the S4 dusted off and getting it running, it is however my least user friendly printer. But when its working its uber good.

Thanks, yes it seems a reasonable and good advice, so lets start with it, learn a lot, and enjoy.
Seems my wife and her sister also try to find use for it anyway so it is accepted

1 piece of advice for anyone buying a printer is make sure you have room for more than 1, 1 is never enough! hahahahaha

So, here we go with the stupid questions.

I bought from Lubos the STL files for the 38T and the T34 tanks, I also downloaded the free files for the MK IV.

I will build the MK IV first as it seems to be the easiest model.
I will build all 3 first in 1/10, just to not overcomplicate things.

But, now I am wondering, what if I want to build those tanks in 1/16?
I have to resize all parts to 62,5% as far as I know.
But then all holes and places for bearings for example will also change in size.
so according to the buildingguide I will need 10x15x4 bearings, if I recalculate I find 6.25x9.375x2.5. nice but I can only find bearings with the size of 6x10x3, so it will not be a perfect fit.
I assume I have to try to change the files to make those bearings fit?

is my assumption correct?

You are correct that hardware will not perfectly scale. This is why when i create my own models in different scales it is not just an easy re-calculation, you may also have to think about sizes and then loads and then maybe have to make bearings bigger than a scaled version. You may have to think about wall thicknesses going down the way, maybe some thin walls will become un printable or have no strength.
It sounds like you will probably have to re-scale and then re-engineer items which will mean a bit of faffing about with new created parts to make it work. Easier when you have CAD files, not easy if you only have stl files.

When i create my models at various scales i always keep a master model of how it should be, then copy and re-scale to my chosen size and then re-engineer every item for fit, hardware and strength.

I design in 1/16 predominantly, but that then means when I make the larger models I scale up. I don't really look at smaller models.

Life is easier scaling up rather than down as you can print bushes to fit the bearings available.
I’ve done lots of 1/16 to 1/6, the only time I tried to shrink a model I ran into all the problems that Will stated.
For starters concentrate on one model, and complete it.
With what you learned from the first one the other two should be much easier.

Yes, I understand scaling to a bigger size is the way to go.
And of course I will start with the Mk IV first, and will finish that before starting the other tanks.

order will be, Mk IV, 38T and then the T34, it is also the growing level of complexity
