Heng Long new V7.0 sound options; opinions?

Post by Rob1970 »

Hey folks,

I'm in a bit of a discussion with a vendor about the new Heng Long V7.0 main boards and their abominable sound options. They agree with me that the sound choices on the V6 were much nicer.
Any other opinions on that? Because frankly; any WW2 tank just sounds silly trundling around sounding like a Leopard or even worse, and Abrams.

I am gathering opinions so the vendor can take them to Heng Long and show that the community is not very happy about the lessened choices. I for one will not buy any WW2 tank with a 7.0 board, if I can find it with a V6.0.

TTFN,
Rob

What I cannot get my head round is that after a two year wait for the reintroduction of the PZ4 Heng Long have missed the opportunity to bring the Turret upto the standard set by Taigens massively improved version.
Instead they have fouled up what had been an ever improving electronics package.
I have been waiting for a new PZ4 Turret and body from Heng Long but it looks like the wait will have to go on
I can only hope that Taigen finally get their act together and produce the definitive PZ4 Body minus molded on tools and accessories but with the 5 degree engine deck slope, this would then be a match for the best PZ4 Turret presently available.(Assuming you want a PZ4 Ausf G Turret:haha: :haha: )
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

My answer would be we need to keep/re introduce and improve the sounds for the World War II tanks I don’t re-call ever hearing a Sherman sounding like the Abrams at any of the summer shows I go to and since it’s the World War II tanks that get/keep many of us in this hobby I think they deserve the improvements needed.

I also think that rather than henglong concentrating on marketing gimmicks and name changes they should be listening to what the buying community wants

Surely they should simply be able to identify what tanks they are producing and provide sounds for them. Im sure my T-90 is 7.0 and I have the sound for it unless I'm using the wrong one? I will get it fired up tomorrow and have a listen

I agree with most if not all that has been said. My question is do you really think they give a S#!*? We're going to buy them anyway! 8O The After Market makes quality control boards and details why do they need to?

They make model aircraft kits in scales that no one else will touch  and they have such gross errors like rivets that scale out to 1/2" or greater. Panel lines that scale out to a 1/2" or better. They represent "FLUSH Rivets" as HOLES that scale out at 1/4" deep or better and such gross shape errors one has to wonder if they even looked at a drawing or photo of the subject. They really don't care as long as we will buy them  Jokes on us! Thankfully that keeps the After Market manufactures in business.

Well, Rob, here on RCTW there have been seemingly innumerable discussions of the benefits and drawbacks of various HengLong and Taigen/Torro tanks. As you note, many here install custom electronics with amazing results. I am less capable and confident with the electronic innards of the tanks, so I have stuck with Taigen/Torro for years. However, I recently bought two HengLong Shermans. Alas, the sounds are disappointing and make me want to switch out to Taigen V3 boards with Sherman sound modules. However, I noticed that the speed control of the HengLong 6.0s board and transmitter seems rather capable of keeping it s-l-o-w, just as I like. The result: a dilemma so far solvable only by resorting to custom electronics.

Given their only release for the year is supposedly a KV-2, I would not expect much from these folks.

If I do happen to pick up one at HEC, it will have a Clark or IBU2 board installed sometime soon.
