Thank you for all the advice, although some of the technical stuff has gone over my head so I need to do more reading about Tanks in general and Tigers in particular...

I have discovered that there weren’t any Heer units with Tigers in Normandie so it will have to be an SS unit...

Trying to determine which I could use...

Not thinking of doing any specific Tank, I couldn’t do the historical accuracy justice... but to create a generically correct representation of a Tiger in that era and that location.

So progress to day... removed the smoke mortars.. the front shovel and the spare track rack. I’ve removed the air filters off the rear panel...

I ve stripped the suspension and tracks..

I’ve removed all the accessories...

I’ve dry fitted the Zimmerit...

Had to move the turret escape hatch...

Had to alter the left turret zimmerit sheet to adjust for the difference in location of the spigot thingy and I cut a hole to allow the pistol port to be fitted back on the turret...

I’ve ordered tack and clips to go on the side of the turret...

I need to work out what the rear deck should look like as there’s bits of the air filter pipes etc still to be Not sure yet...

I’m going to leave the Twin headlamps A’s is, and the loaders hatch hinges, and the binocular sight as I don’t know what it looks like...

I’ve ordered up a new metal escape hatch, the HL one didn’t survive the surgery to remove, Leo metal mud flaps and hinges... keep losing the plastic ones...

I’ve fitted all but one of the Zimmerit sheets... due to the hatch on order...

And I’ve resprayed the lower hull in dunkelgelb...
made a wheel stencil and did the wheels in dunkelgelb...
ran out of dunkelgelb....

I would suggest looking at elite armor's decals on eBay.

They show you a paint guide and each sheet has a variety of choices.

Here is the sheet for the western front for your Tiger and I can vouch for the excellent decal quality.

Hey Mr Jarndice, thanks for the ad, as always!

Just a little correction: I have nothing "in the shelf" because I never repeat any design, so unlike the decals, every one of my tank stencil sets is unique. Even for those who don't know which numbers to pick, I write random numbers. I ended hating seeing the decals numbers repeated again and again so big chunk of my stencils philosophy is to have your very own toy and make it unique and special at least for the owner eyes.

Jnewboy... thanks for the tip but I’d already approached Rad on the recommendation of Jandice. I’m looking forward to seeing what Rad comes up with for my Tiger....

Good Morning,
Don't forget the early Tiger1's used in Africa and Italy. Those paint jobs can show amazing depth with toners and filters used.

Very true painless...

But the Fiefel filter kit is already consigned to the spares box lol... and the Big Cat is now sporting a great set of fresh ‘stripes’.

I will post some pics of the transformation when she’s fully clothed again..

Rad is an amazing chap! Despite it being the weekend...he’s designed a set of stencils for specific unit, plus personalised markings for my very own impression...all proof approved, made and packaged for dispatch in just 36 hours... and for a sum of money that can only be described as the deal of the century... Thank you Sir, and also to Jarndice for pointing me in the right direction...

I will be looking for a set of stencils for my M4A3 in the near future!
