Pantiger eBay win

Post by NAB »

Hi

I bid on a HL panther before going to bed the other night. I only put £57 as my bid and went to sleep fully expecting to have the outbid and you lost the auction message when I woke up.
I woke up to find a 'you won' message and please pay now!

So after a little bit of research I believe I have got a HL pantiger model which is possibly why it sold so cheap?

I was wondering what I could do with it.
Keep it as is, upgrade and paint it etc.
Split it in two and buy a panther bottom hull and tiger top hull.
Also what other 1/16 upper hull options would I have that fit on a tiger hull?

Also interestingly I found this image on Google. This does actually look like a genuine pantiger or is it just a panther? (I'm not an expert, yet!)
If it is a pantiger but a fake how have they made such a convincing photo?

Thanks for reading and any suggestions you have!Image

Pictures of the tank from the auction.
No battery or charger but not a problem.

I had to explain to the Mrs why another tank will be arriving lolImageImageImage

Real good for engine deck vents and exhaust pipes to make an A or a D panther.
Rest is spares for tiger builds

My Photoshop skills are non existent lol

My work doesn't involve me touching a computer so I don't actually have one. Everything i need is on my phone.

So can I not just separate the two Half's and make 2 tanks?

I would like to get a different top half for the Tiger hull. What would fit?

I found a panther bottom hull on eBay;
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Heng-Long-Ta ... 635-2958-0

Would this be good for the top half?

you cannot fit a Pantiger top to a Panther hull, the Panther is longer and narrower.

Your options are either bin the top and fit a regular Tiger 1 top, or butcher the Pantiger top into something closer to a Panther by altering the angles on the front and a few other tweaks (and even then it will still look like a short fat Panther) or go full retard and a scratch build Jagdpanther look alike. Both have been done before in the dim and distant past, and been made to look ok, if not actually accurate.

Hmm ok thanks

Maybe a dystopian pantiger is needed Rad Schuhart style!

Keep the upper and rear plate for parts donor for early Panthers, get a cheap-ass Tiger upper to mate with the lower & create a Tiger 1(of sorts)
The exhausts and engine vents are ideal for early Panthers.
The side plates can be used to alter the hull of a G to become an earlier D which had different angled side armour.

It's an old HL model so the MFU could do with updating but neither the hull or turret are good representation of either Panther or Tiger. An upgrade to V6 would give you a IR compatible target for battles. Otherwise, just enjoy a cheap purchase for what it is.

I bought one myself off eBay some years ago, before l knew about the model. In a busy battle it just blends in okay! We live and learn ;)

Which is why I'm thinking of doing a unique dystopian pantiger inspired by Rads work. Also will speak to him about doing some unique stencils for it.

I will use the other tanks I have to be more historically accurate
