Tiger 1 radio mast

Post by Soane »

I’ve just fitted the MK Modellbau aerial from Forgebear Tanks, I used flat black with a slight graphite rub, what do you guys think?

My experience in the service had the radio aerials painted in the overall colour of the vehicle bearing it which in Europe was Green or Earth and in the Middle East Sand or light Grey and sometimes PINK yes I mean it !!! In the Far East because it rained so much everywhere you looked was green so the vehicles and all the fittings were as well :lolno:
I have never seen an aerial painted Black which does not mean that the German armed forces did not do so in WW2,
Camo paint schemes were very much a learning curve for all military institutions in those dark times indeed some people might suggest there is still a lot to learn of the art.
A health and safety tip, If your Aerial equipped Tank/s are going to be in the company of children or the disabled a plastic ball or similar on the tip of the aerial can save someone losing an eye.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Say, Jarndice: thanks for the tip! Now I know what to do with the infamous yellow 6mm BBs: just drill the right sized hole and voilà! a protector that can come off for photos, etc.
