JCC Compact Recoil Units
Re: JCC Compact Recoil Units
I ordered two so I will see if they fit in the two types of T34/76 turrets I have.

Re: JCC Compact Recoil Units
Let me know please. And take some images. (Always good to see if a good fit or can be solved with minor tweaks.)tankme wrote:I ordered two so I will see if they fit in the two types of T34/76 turrets I have.
Re: JCC Compact Recoil Units
It's been 10 days since the order so I expect they will be arriving soon depending how busy the ports of entry were at the time. Looking forward to seeing if they fit and will take pics. I'm all about finding a pre-made solution for something if I can...

Re: JCC Compact Recoil Units
Wondering if anyone had gotten one yet to try in the T34/76?
Re: JCC Compact Recoil Units
They arrived on Saturday. Initial impression was they will probably work, but haven't had any tank time lately. Just found out today my government contract I work on will be shutting down in a month so my job search will take priority for me in the coming months. After July 8th I will be unemployed, but I planned financially for it so I can easily live on my savings for almost a year if I need to.

Unfortunate about the employment situation. Great job in planning for the contingency. Send images when you have a chance to install!tankme wrote:They arrived on Saturday. Re: JCC Compact Recoil Units
OK, so I had a few minutes to just do some quick mockups. It seems the JCC Compact Recoil Unit will fit very nicely in the T34/76 "Micky Mouse" turret from the Trumpeter kit with a few modifications. I will probably have to trim the nose of the unit down some, but the aluminum 76mm barrel fits the recoil slide perfectly. This turret has a little more height and the gun sits a little lower.

The other turret will require more work to get it to fit, but it's not too far off IMO. I will definitely be shortening the front of the unit, probably removing the pivot points (since my build already has the pivots built), and will probably slim it down width wise to allow space for a Clark apple mount.

Re: JCC Compact Recoil Units
Good to hear. Yea, I've had lots of requests for a unit to not have the "default pivots", but then I'd feel the need to include an add on for them. That's more design work/creative modeling and that translates to a higher cost...
Every unit is printed with 75% infill, so chopping stuff off will have very little structural impact (Note I did not say No Impact).
