Hi, I've just completed my Pershing and have started to run it. Despite being all set up for neutral trims on my radio, the tank kept wanting to pull to one side. Running the tracks off the ground revealed the problem - the right side track was turning faster than the left.
Dansdata's review of the tank referred to one gearbox sounding louder than the other. My two gearboxes are equally loud but I suspect there may be a bind somewhere in it, or rubbing in the roadwheels given the close tolerances between the wheels and the suspension arms.
The last possibility has to do with the drive motors having advanced timing, but I think that is a very remote possibility and Tamiya would probably have taken care of that.
Have any other Pershing owners encountered the same problems, or is it just a quirk of the tank?

Try this unplug your motors and hook the right motor to left motor plugs and the left motor to right motor plugs and test again see if problem moves if it doze then its not the motor its in the speed control unit you may need to adjust Rudd adjustment on DMD Control Unit .

After that,if it still does it look to see how freely each track will rotate.
My stug (which yes is not Tamiya,or a pershing) turns to one side when running straight.Like you I lifted it off the ground and it seemed one was faster than the other.
However if I add a link to each track they both turn the same speed and it drives straight. However the tracks pull themselves off when turning on grass as I don't as yet have tensioners fitted.
Any road wheel friction or track overtightening will make a difference to performance.
Just to confuse the issue,my Sherman pulls to it's left running downhill, but will pull to it's right going uphill, only slightly though.
But it does seem to run straight on flat ground.
On rough ground you've got to constantly adjust dirrection anyway.
Steve.

Re: Tamiya Pershing Gearboxes - one is faster than the other!
Thanks for the tip, I tweaked the Rudd adjustment slightly so that it would at least drive straight on flat ground. Tamiya Pershing's tracks come prebuilt so I can't add or drop links on the tracks.

the Tamiya pershing tracks do not need any adjustment the fit straight onto the tank just fine,

Re: Tamiya Pershing Gearboxes - one is faster than the other!
Fixed it, Mr. Moderator. Both the gearbox and my location.
My tracks seemed tighter on one side than the other (more droop when lifted off the ground). I decided that I shan't be so OCD about it though. So long as it works.

Re: Tamiya Pershing Gearboxes - one is faster than the other!
i used the Schumo idler adjusters on my Pershing to take up the slack in the tracks, they have more positions to move to than the three with the Tamiya set up
sorry about being sarcastic in regards to your location
