DICKER MAX started ..at last

Post by mcevoyi »

hi all

as you all know me a bit by now .. i am never satisfied with out the box models .. my spare turret department is some what full of pz3 and 4 a few tigers and and pershings too ... i also have enough plastic card to a fleet of armour  conversions ... but as usual its time that just seems to run away ..

any way so far this week i have escaped the delights of the garden center ..yippie ! but i have to goto a different one some 20 miles away just  to get a book! .. about aircraft .. part of a set i have been collecting for some time now .. funn .. i do complain about garden centers .. but some have fab book .. take a look and maybe a cuppa too

now ... dicker max ....

its a panzer 4 chassis .. the first thing i did with some help with a fab set of drawings and text was to lower the motor to a low profile as the DM has along sloping forward glasics plate .. i also worked out that the front plate with the tow hitches was alos much taller .. so to confirm my suspission i wnt to frome model center ( thats worth a £5 ) to grap there last trumpeter  DM..and true to form .. i was right

so the first pic show the first steps .. gulp .. drilling the gbox was a bit of a gamble as i was not wanting to scrap it !

only me ! lol

while i was messing around with the front hull and gboxs .. i realised that i had just .. just enough room to change the height of the gboxs and so the height of the sprocket .. so i raised the height of the Gboxes by 3mm  i read that some where else and just cant remember who did it here first
so i did and boy it dont half look different .....well worth the time and hassle ....

so on the the upper hull ..... no chanc eof useing the pz4 hull ..so out come the ruller ..and the knife .. i started with the fenders ... as that seemed the best place to start ... the fenders were measured out and cut .... and the inner gun platform base ... i hope to have a motor and gbox for the gun mount .. bbut there looks to be no where near enough room .. so i have to look at that again ...

while i was waiting for glue to dry ..i remeoved all the mount poits for the sound and smoke unit as i want the fighting compartment to be open as the real thing so i can show the gun to full effect ... i guess by doing this i will not be able to fit a recoil for fire unit ... shame .. but .... but ...
i could close it with a tarp .. but then it would lose the effect of someting truly different ?

Nice work Iain, a couple of questions:

Are you scratch building the main gun?
Why not remove the battery box to give a little extra room?

Cheers

A micro servo and a DBCRC2HL battle circuit should do for the recoil ;)

hi all

mackem ..

i have looked at removeing the batt box .. thats a great idea .. but its so tight in there that that i would just end up putting the batterie in the same place

and yes i have to scratch build the gun! .. not looking forward to that ..
