American Civil War City Class Gunboat

Still need to add one last fiberglass layer on the hull with two part epoxy but in the meantime I received the 1:48 model 1857 12 Pounder deck gun from Shapeways. This field artillery piece sat topside on the hurricane deck and was in addition to the 13 big naval guns which were located below on the main gun deck.
I painted and detailed the gun by adding some wood grain, chains and the rear gunsight. The barrel was bronze and I’m sure the navy kept it shiny. I hated brass when I was in the navy!

Ah, from the Corpsman's stash of the fabled 'medicinal drop'. WW1 Tommies were given a good slug of rum (and often they're very last) before going over the top. Here's a GI with a very different take on warfare!

Sorry for the deviation, Jim. Maybe you can include a saloon bar (containing viable hotel room miniatures ), on your Gunboat.

You guys! I haven't been on here for a little bit and this comment took me a while to fathom! Now I get it! I think I've just spent too much time on the mower and weedwacking! It's hard to stay up to speed with you guys if you miss a few days!

Granddad always said I was a little slow and "tended to think myself stupid"!

It's good to see some things remain constant in this world!

Painfully slow build progress but I did receive my Beier board today! Yay for me. It only took 19 days to ship from Germany to Illinois. Not bad at all.
I’m still waiting for my propeller shafts to arrive from Aliexpress. Then I can finish the hull. Then I’ll install all the running gear and electronics. Slowly but surely.

19 days isn't bad at all! I'd expect a lot, lot, lot longer waiting period! Hopefully this is a sign that things are slowly improving?

Ooh, look! Fancy, complicated electronics! Even though my brain goes blank looking at stuff like that, it sure looks like nice gear!
