New guy from Alberta,Canada

New to RC tanks but been involved in flying rc planes for many years.
I also build 1/35 scale military models.
RC tanks don't seem to be as popular in here Canada but I'm sure I will enjoy this new extension of my hobby pastime nonetheless.

I think you just might be pleasantly surprised at our loyal Canadian Membership and the club scene in Canada is good and strong,
You have a problem though' Canada is so damn BIG, :haha:

I know of a few clubs in eastern Canada but I'm in western Canada which is a 5 day 3000km drive.

I might see If I can track down some local guys possibly.

Still look at the positives you won't have to worry about running out of groundspace to run your Tank on :thumbup:

Welcome to the Forum! RC tanks do seem to be at the bottom of RC hobbies in popularity. Not sure why?! :think:

However, now you're among fellow crazies! Some more nutty than other's! :crazy:

Actually, they're just extremely dedicated, and enthusiastic about this great hobby! I'm sure you'll find something to blow your mind here. I have my mind blown away almost daily with the incredible talent and knowledge of these guys! It's the best place to be!

great place for info, help and tips as you enter into the rc side of the hobby. I myself also came from a 1/35 modelling background, military dioramas etc but since finding 1/16 scale and this forum I have never looked back, especially as the ol' eyes start to struggle

do post some pics of any models you may have when you get a chance :thumbup:

Yes that makes sense, I remember listening to my sisters play Rocky Mountain Suite, John Denver when I was a young boy and dreaming of the scene it paints in the song, would love to go there one day.

Hello, from Derbyshire.
I’m new to tanks as well. But with help given from this site I’ve had a lot of fun building a Abrams.
Learnt a lot, made mistakes, spent too much money. That’s the only down side to this site, you find some new every time. The wife has taken my cards, and shut down my PayPal account.

Yes I can relate.
I look at it this way there are a lot worst things a person could be spending time and money on.
Plus my wife always knows where I am and what I'm doing.

Hi there! I'm only a few thousand clicks away in southern Wisconsin, U.S. (south of the border). I was in Saskatchewan in the summer of 1998, and I recall dining outdoors and lovely city parks in Regina and Saskatoon. I would really enjoy taking the train to Alberta, but bank robbery is frowned upon here in the States.

Do you have any local source(s) of RC tanks? I have to go online for any tank-specific goodies, and there are a few sources in the US--way too few. :thumbdown:

Not much in tank goodies here either.
Luckily came across a local shop that has a Tamiya Panther kit.
But as far as parts/upgrades I'm in the same boat as you I will be having to order online as well.

Saskatchewan is nice but you really need to visit the Rocky mountains in Jasper/ Banff Alberta it is spectacular.
Traveling by train in Canada is very expensive.
