I think the supplier's packaging is partly to blame...a 1/6 tank...shipped in a cardboard box?! It should have some in a wooden box at least!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was my first question to the vendor, and they stated that they have not had a problem since they received the tank from China in the same box.I should also mention that MARK1 has the track and sprockets at the best price, they also have great customer service. The box is the issue with UPS also, they wanted more box pictures than tank damage pictures. They have completed their investigation but will not tell me the results.only the vendor. So I'm not feeling to good about this at all.Sax

I have started a new thread, and regardless of the vendor or UPS Claims dept.I am going with my original plan to convert this model to r/c.First step is to disassemble the track componets and start building stronger control arms, boring the wheels for bearing, and purchasing metal tracks and drive sprockets, also idler sprockets. The inner hull has rails like the asiatam tiger hull, but without torsion springs.Instead the control arms pass through the rails about 25mm and are attached to a spring that is anchored to the rail by a bolt. This can be improved on and I intend to manufacture the same type of system as asiatam's Tiger hull. That part is not that costly, sprockets and steel tracks 1000.00u.s.dollars.The steel sprockets that came with the tank would be fine but as you know only one survived the shipping process. And the vendor says they cannot supply a replacement. So if I could replace that one sprocket I would be able to build a track system using the existing parts for about 200.00 in bearings and material. The track I have are strong enough by adding metal strips and rubber guide channel. The adventure begins,so check out my build thread as I attempt to salvage this fine mess.SAX

Good plan Sax, but as for the sprockets...steel sprockets? I do have my doubts on that, one that could break into pieces like that, certainly not a good steel

I would prefer new sprockets, the steel sprocket shattered because a fork lift fork hit it when they tried to lift the box.By the way where was your tank built,I mean did you build it or purchase it assembled? Cheers Blake

Hello Blake, and got your PM but will answer it here.If you are looking for steel tracks and sprockets won't be able to help.I did try to look up the old 21 sT. Century on line site and was not able to find it,I'm thinking someone said they went out of business. ??? Don't know how big your tank is or how heavy it is.But I was thinking the sprockets and tracks for the 1/9 21 sT.Century tank would have worked well on that tank.I think the sprocket would have been about the right diameter and the tracks are pretty heavy duty and they are three inches wide. These would have worked on a pretty big and heavy tank if they were not subjected to real rough ground surfaces. These do show up on ebay ever so often if you think they would fill the bill.To bad this source has dried up as the tracks were $40.00 a set and $30.00 dollars a set for the sprockets, and the set of tracks were long. You may want to watch the 1/6 tank section on ebay, you may find what you need. ;D ;D

Thanks Larry, well with no drive componets as it sets the weight is about 123lb.the tracks I can salvage as 8-links are on the turret sides, but the sprocket is in 6-pieces via.UPS fork lift,I would like to try and run the tracks after I modify.I believe off road these will hold up,and if they don't I'm in the same situation.I could make drive sprockets but they would not resemble the real deal.I can get FOV set but they are plastic and would not hold up,no way.Now my tracks are made from some type of molded abs,or maybe some other plastic compound, but they are tough, have metal pins, and with my mods will hold up in grass or dirt.maybe even concrete but this would wear on the added pins connecting the conveyor belting to the tracks, also have in mind notched metal guide rails for tracks to replace the abs guides, many were broken in shipping when they speared the box,it's like when they backed out with the fork it was between the road wheels and the track,so as they backed up turning it just broke them off, like 2-per link and they took out twenty guides.Any way I will have to go with MARK-1 for sprockets, that is 250.00 + SHIPPING AND THATS BP NOT DOLLARS.I knew to go from static to r/c was going to cost, and this hull is a great platform, lots of steel, and in the right places so with everyones help I'm sure it will be interesting build. Thanks Larry for the info,Blake aka Saxondog

WoW----I had no idea your tank was that heavy. If you can get all this worked out it sounds like you will have a killer tank when you get done.  ;D ;D The tracks and sprockets I had refered to may well not handle a tank of that weight.I hope you can find what you need at a decent cost.  ;D
