Ah, but if you read the write up on R* U******* you will see that he hasn't adjusted the sound at all, he has yet to play with the settings. Also if you listen to the vid, you will notice that the CD unit is proportional, and according to what I have read, it is linked to motor voltage, so in that respect it is pretty clever for what it is. I reckon just one speaker, lower volume, and less bass, and it would sound a lot better. I also suspect that as the guy is recording in a concrete building, there is a lot of echo. I would like to hear one in the flesh so that I could get a better idea. $75 is a lot of money just to find out though!

All true mate but my jagdpanther is proportional and thats tamiya. Also, i find the el-mod sound on my Super Pershing are Not proportional either, they step up much the same has HL.

If CD could 'mellow' that sound it would be a good budget sound system. I am not a great fan of Tamiya 2 step sounds, so if I had an old Sherman in a cupboard I would bung a CD unit in it for $75, the only drawback being the batteries! Where the heck do you fit them?

so you would be prepared to loose you maing gun, MG and turret sounds ? as well as the start up / shut off sequence ?

There is also a company called SFX in Canada who do some really high quality systems, but I have yet to see one fitted to a tank.

You don't lose the HL sounds. 

The HL engine start is still the same, when that ends, the CD engine sounds start.
What this guy is referring to is a CD install on a Tamiya T01 unit, by the looks of things, so there is no smoke unit to attach it to.
I can't see why the other HL functions would be affected eg gun, mg, turret etc. They all run off the main board, this unit is attached to the smoker connectors (so it measures voltage). The unit has its own power supply and speaker, and amp, it's a totally self contained unit.
All of the existing HL system is unaffected. 

The Elmod sounds are proportional, I have 40 sound files that cover engine noise, these are played according to how fast the tank is going, accelarating, braking, and whether it is climbing an incline. There are around 10 speed steps on an Elmod. The Pershing sounds you are hearing may be due to the way that the Pershing sound files have been created. Are yours the latest ones that have been made available?

The Tam Jagdpanther does sound pretty good, but then it is the latest and best from Tamiya, the guy in the vid wanted sound on a 25 year old Sherman without spending big bucks. It's horses for courses I suppose. Mind you, looking at the way that Sherman climbs that slope makes me deeply envious...as you know, my Elmod Tiger struggles over my foot (I am in contact with Blitz about this..may yet get a solution  >:(  )

Wibbly you are correct. you dont lose any of your stock sounds what so ever. you can use the t1 sound board with stock sounds, elmod, dmds, etc etc. 
  In order to make the sound more "mellow" located directly on the board is a micro trimmer that is labeled tone. what this is trimmer does is equivalent to a bass/ trebble system on a stereo. when we ship we have this setting cranked all the way up on the "treble". this is so we can hear the exact tones the board is making before it ships, and quality check it. In order to take off the high end v8 hot rod sound and give it a more mellow sound, the tone trimmer can simply be turned to acheive the level of "mellow" you desire. Matt the "hunk of junk" sold out a local rc swap meet. I think its just one of those products that seeing (hearing) is believing. the feedback that is coming is 100% through the roof, and we're glad that people are having a new level of fun when driving their tanks. for us this is what its all about.

I can't speak to the Creeping Death sound system,I can speak to the quality of their gun system and the customer service I received,and On a scale of 1-10,I must say 9.99.Shelby worked with me as I continued to take his product and modify it into something it was not designed to be,never did he hesitate to answer my questions,I would like to have a better sound system,and I cannot say who's is better,but I cannot believe if someone had a problem with the c/d system that Shelby would not resolve that issue in the customers favor. Matt you know I support you and this forum,I WOULD NOT OF COMMENTED if it was not in the best interest of this forum and hobby.And Shelby perhaps an independent evaluation would help to resolve any issues,send one to Rob,he's top notch on these types of electronics's.Then we could all benefit from the results good or bad.
