I use quality lipos and similar for other RC models where weight and size are requirements but in tanks it will remain high capacity, high C rated Nimhs that power my models. Yes, a 6 subC cell pack is bulky but each cell can be positioned separately in the hull.

NiCads were great back in the 90's but offer little today. All rechargable packs will explode if mistreated and the contents will spray over some distance. That's why we should always use proper charging pouches when recharging.

General Jumbo, et al.: I don't use LiPos in RC tanks unless the tank comes supplied with such. I do use Nimh batteries of taller capacity.
I also have two boats that use LiPo batteries, for which I use the simple, slow charger that came with the boat. But I would be happy to increase safety when I charge any battery.
So a blast bag would be good for Nimhs too? Do you have a brand recommendation of one such bag?

Any purpose made bag bought from a reputable model shop should be good. Most of the larger battery manufacturers make them. Just make sure they are big enough to hold your pack and connector and charger cable. They are not expensive and can save a lot of expensive mess!
