Hello everyone
I have joined the site to be able to learn from like minded people, I am interested in WW11 in particular late war, British and American airborne operation Market Garden in particular. I did a nut and bolt restoration on a Ford GPW finished just in time to take to Arnhem for the 75 anniversary of Market Garden, and took part in the race for the bridge! best thing I have ever done. The Jeep was restored as an airborne Jeep in honour of the 156 and 10th brigades. I am currently doing another Jeep which will honour the American 82nd airborne. The tank thing is to do something for XXX Corps I cannot afford a real live Sherman or any tank! I have several model Jeeps including a 1/6 scale R/C, I would like to build a 1/6 scale Sherman Firefly! but for now to see how I get on I will go with 1/16. Problem I have at the ripe old age of 61 is my hands aren’t as good as they used to be with small parts. I used to fly R/C aircraft in my younger days! (45 years ago) so my knowledge on R/C equipment is a bit dated, I actually had one of the first proportional sets a Horizon 2 channel single stick which I still have, so I am looking forward to trying to understand the capabilities of the modern sets.

Welcome along, Paul.
I think you'll find plenty of inspiration here- and kindred spirits. Military history is often central to the hobby for most, as well an abiding interest.
Coincidentally, my Dad's division was within XXXCorps (British 2nd Army/21st Army Group, under Monty) after Normandy.
I've been through Arnhem, Caen, Kleve, the Reichswald, and Bremen where his division was in action. But not in a jeep.
It was an old MG Metro Turbo...(could have been a great car, if they'd taken the trouble to build it properly

You'll find some real jeep fans here too.

Welcome to the Forum! Great place with great people! There are some beautiful Fireflies on here to ogle! Post some pics of your Jeeps if you get a chance, we like pictures and videos too!
