Thanks for the comments Richard. I'm using 6v bulbs in the front. They give a dimmer glow, but still bright enough. I'll be using 12v bulbs in the convoy light, as that was a dimmer light from what i've read.
This tank is ver rarely going to battle, so she doesn't need a permanently fixed in TBU. Im also hoping with a more powerful speaker, in a smaller box, the sound should be a lot louder and have a better bass rumble. I will eventuall be fitting acoustic blocking material on the inside of the tank to drown out the motor sounds, so the only noise from the tank will be the speaker.
Cheers,
Rik

I do have a question for anyone knowledgeable in these things. With the lighting do I wire the bulbs in series or parallel?

Cheers,

Wiring them in series will basically make them 12v. more resistance. You will need more power to bring them up to the brightness of running separate on 6v. Also in series if one bulb burns out they all go out. Parallel is used when the bulb voltage matches or is close to battery voltage and if one goes out the rest stay on.  6v. light bulbs seem a little low for a 7.2 battery set up which can put out up to 8.3 v. I would try 12v. parallel.
Just my two cents

Looking good.
I like the idea with uprating the speaker to 8ohm to get a deeper sound.I assume this is safe for the amp?
I know nothing about speakers and amplifiers which is why I ask (I live in fear of damaging my multi function unit!).

Good idea also with the bulbs, will give a far more realistic glow.My Sherman is fitted with bulbs and looks very convincing.

Cheers

Hi Steve, I've run the tank with the speaker in for about 5 minutes with no problems. I went throught the full range of sound and all was fine, but I haven't run it at full volume yet.
The DMD & MFU's are pretty robust, and Tamiya have a full lifetime warranty on them.
The bulbs do look a lot nicer than LED's, I wish I could find some headlight lenses for the Tiger, to go under the bosch caps. Does the sherman have the lenses, maybe they'll fit the Tiger's headlights.

Richard, thanks for the explination, it's been a long time since i've wired anything up, lol. I think I will use the 12v lights, they are a tad brighter than the 6v, and fit in the headlights easier, lol.  :P

Thanks for the comments Andy, its going great, at least until I paint it, lol. I'm so worried that i'll put all this effort in just to screw up the paint job!

One problem I have had its in chemical blackening the tracks. They've come out black, but with an odd white residue on them. I need to re-do them again to get a deeper black I think.

Yes the sherman has detailed lenses.

They may not be 100% accurate for the tiger, but I may pick some up to go under the Bosch caps.

I think they should be on the A sprue. Hopefully they should be a good fit. Cheers,
Steve.

I'm also going to have a go at the convoy light tomorrow as well, and then attempt my dodgy wiring, lol.  :D

Cheers,
Rik
