Daft question time, from a beginner. TheMing nuts I read about in some of the builds. Are there a particular size or sizes that are used, and where can they be obtained from? I can find 1/35 scale, but not 1/16.

Re: Representation of nuts
For a moment, I though this was a question about parliamentarians
What I did was to buy the LARGE sets in 1:35, as I found that the biggest nuts and bolts, in that scale, were a decent match for some of the bolts I needed on my Comet and Cromwell projects. Sets A and B can be bought in a large scale.
My only beef with using them, is that it's a tad tricky removing the bolt heads/nuts from the resin sheet they're moulded on.

Re: Representation of nuts
If you require genuine scale nuts, bolts and washers then I recommend Dom @---
www.prime-miniatures.co.uk
He will sell you M1.6 = 2.5mm nuts, bolts and washers and a complementary size for smaller fixtures also in 1/16 scale is M1.2 = 2mm,
He carries in stock Nutspinners in the correct size to enable you to tighten/loosen the nuts and bolts,
He is very helpful and he has a very fast turnaround.
Recommended
If you are going this route you will need a set of "Taps & Dies" I got mine from "Rolsons" Drapers do a slightly larger Tap @ Die set that complements the Rolson,
Remember if you glue parts together you are stuck with it
If you bolt things together then you can if you need too disassemble them.
Real scale nuts, bolts & Washers look like real nuts bolts & washers,
Glued on plastic bolt heads look like glued on plastic bolt heads,
Just saying.

Re: Representation of nuts
Model fixing, is just up the road from me. I've used him for "proper nuts and bolts". I just need some replacement ones where I have damaged the replicas on the tank, and to improve the details.
This site has given me so many ideas, confidence in having a go, and ways of making things, just by reading posts from Barry C, 43rdRecceReg, and IMCQ11. Ok I've Nick a lot of ideas.

Re: Representation of nuts
Some members of the Forum might know that I have a passing interest in the Panzer 4,
The later Ausf G and the H and J variants had applique armour bolted across the front of the radio operators and drivers positions on the front of the Tanks body,
WOZ c/o Shapeways prints a wide range of PZ4 parts in 1/16 including a very nice 3D imitation of the applique armour,
It's only drawback as far as I am concerned is the printed plastic bolt heads,
These are easy to cut away,
I use a marker pen to indicate the centre of the bolts position then apply a small patch of double sided tape to the reverse of the armour plate and place it in position then Pin Vice pilot holes through the relevant marked points and into the tank body then I tap a thread into the pilot holes and using a nutspinner I drive M1.6 bolts in place,
I now have a Panzer 4 Ausf G ,H, and J with applique armour that can be removed whenever I choose rather than faff around with debonder and brute force to get them off should I want to at a later date.
