Best to purchase a Taigen lower with electronics and go from there.
I have a wreck of a Mattoro ST as well, and bits for it are rare. I did have metal wheel covers for it that were genuine parts but they were used elsewhere.

The gearboxes aren't standard HL pattern so there's some major surgery involved to fit anything better. I'd agree with Herman, dump the chassis and put something better under the upper.
Its built on the same chassis as the short lived Matorro Tiger, and I don't recall it being difficult to install the Asiatam/Taigen chassis under my one.

I think Wibbly will remember that one, as he did the El-Mod install for me  Sadly it fell from a great height a few years later and got scraped :(

Ah, those inscrutable AFV brand names. :problem: :)
In family terms, I guess they'd be identical twins, twins, or even just siblings. Whatever the name suggests, I think they're all related, and rely on the same factories in Shanzou province. Latterly, I think 'Matorro' has largely given way to 'Torro', which, at various levels of features can also be 'Taigen', or even 'Heng Long'. Torro.de (since 2004) https://www.torro.de/en/ is the main (and claimed) exclusive
dealership in Northern Europe for Taigen/Torro, Heng Long, and others.
Depending on the amount of detail and features you want: (PRO EDITION -HOBBY EDITION - HENG LONG EDITION- PLAY EDITION- FORCES OF VALOR-FULL METALL (sic-their spelling), you could get a Taigen, Torro or Heng Long tank.
I have the Torro 'metal edn'. King Tiger, that comes in its own wooden sarcophagus. It's indistingushable, as far as I can tell, from the same upmarket Taigen version. Apart, that is, from the name on the user manual.
I think even Matotoys are part of the same family, but have spun off into 'all metal' offerings...and the allure that all that pot metal seems of offer :problem:
Have a look at Dominique's bits for the ST,

Quite a few of the Tiger 1 accessories can be used on the ST.

It's always worth checking previous threads for the Strumtiger. Here's one for starters:
