Hi all.
Just to say hello and good to see so many other like minded folk out there! Maybe we will chat some day? Who knows?!!
Cheers anyway
See ya!
Bit thin on content there! I'll add I've just started building the taigen tiger1 kit, decided I need to upgrade it before I've even got the tracks on! I'm looking to shift it all into atleast the mato metal bottom Hull to start off with (it's my first r/c build by the way) and needed a bit of help with things so jumped into this forum!.
I've been scale model making for a few years and decided I'd like to move up a bit in scale so here I am.

Greetings and Welcome to the finest RC Tank site on the whole of the net!!

I too have been a scale modeler for many years now, about 60 for sure.

I took the plunge to the next larger scale, been in 1/32 for many years and have thoroughly enjoyed working in 1/16 for 4+ years now. Nothing like looking at the ruler and knowing that 1/16" equals 1", so easy! :D

Hi Barry.
Thanks for the greeting, I've been into 1/32 for pretty much all my model making, found myself building a lot of the meng Russian stuff and dragon German ww2 kits, I'm still partial to the Russian vehicles, I'm building the buk2 as we speak, we'll I'm about to paint it etc.
Funny how we all seem to drift the same way, must be the eyesight makes us jump up a few scales as we clock on!!!.
See ya bud.

Welcome, Moomin'

IMO, the Taigen Tiger 1 alloy/abs hull is one of the best out there- so I'd give it plenty of thought, if I were you, before you go switching to a Mato unit. Is this the one that came supplied with your kit?

If so, it's a keeper.
Hulls made exclusively of pot metal, are very hard to work on. This is the Mato offering:

Alloy/abs hulls are much better.

Yes that's the inner tub it's the outer plastic/abs part that's warped, also there's a cross member that bolts over the top of the motors and when I put that on it pulls the sides in and warps it more! I got the kit from nitrotec.

Hello and welcome the forum Mr Troll

Hmm, Nitrotech, sorry, but we'll have no swearing around here please ;)

Weird that you got a warped chassis, the Taigen ones are usually very good, and I don't think I've ever heard a complaint about them, I have a couple that are no trouble. And many people we know have built that same kit without problems.

Therefore I'm sorry to hear you have a dud one.

Hi Have the same kit, the lower hull at the rear was warped but very hot water and clamps sorted it out. The metal bar above the motors pulls the front of the lower hull in slightly. Also the metal bar has a bend at each end, it pulls up the plastic .Perhaps thats to line up lower hull with the upper hull? If its still out with the upper hull on could you not just drill the plastic to suit . Its a nice build have a look at the torro/taigen in other builds.

I thought I'd try the hot water out, I will let you know how it goes, I'll take some photos too later on and see if I can show the problem better.
