Need a bit of advice about Tiger rear lights

Post by grim_marmazet »

Hi guys,
I need to once again use your vast collection of knowledge!  ;D

I've seen two types of rear lights for the Tiger 1;

The first, in picture one, is the standard tubular light on the left hand side.

The second, picture two, is a notek 4 bulb convoy light.

Now my question is, whic lights were used when, and were they both used at the same time?

Cheers,
Rik

Ive also found a couple more picture of the tubular convoy light, but with a cover with 4 holes like the Notek one.
The first is from a Jagdpanther, the second from a Hetzer.

These rear lights are quite confusing, lol.  :D

Cheers,
Rik

Hi guys i thinkthe 4 light was used on soft skin vehicles and half tracks but i can not totally confirm this,
but this seems the pattern on all the old pics that i have seen..............

Thanks oz and Fleshy. I quite like the 4 hole design on the Jagdpanther light. Does anyone know if this design was used on the Tiger? I cant find any good reference pictures.

i had a quick look through some of my books and the ones with the convoy light fitted are covered in muck and dust, its really hard to tell what the later style looks like....................cheers oz.

Thanks for looking oz, that was the same problem im having. Any close up picture and its caked in mud. I may go with the design similar to the Jagdpanthers one, mostly because I like it and it'll give a good effect lit up, unless anyone can say for sure the Tiger didn't have ones like that.

Can any one tell me what the solid colour was on the rear light of the Tiger. Was it a Sky blue colour / or a standard red ?

Cheers
