Re: HengLong v6 cannon firing

I received a 6.1S yesterday, which I am installing in a bare Torro Tiger.

Motors all running, excellent motor control.
Headlight working.

Servo recoil seems to work, but currently running the wrong way, should be an easy fix.

But, with only the basics attached, I am not getting any gun fire sounds, hull recoil etc.

I am wondering what else needs to be attached to trigger the gun? I have an HL flash unit, but as this is on a 5 pin plug I can't just plug it into the 6.1S board, so will have to figure that one out too, or just use an LED and solve that one.

The current objective is to figure out the gun fire, pressing B & A does nothing at present. Has anyone else done a raw install, shared circuits appear to disable the gun unless other components are attached, but as I am not using a BB I don't have that in the system. :problem:

Update:
.....Well that was easy, lol, I put a two pin plug into CN6 and joined the + and -. This creates a permanent airsoft trigger, completes the circuit, and bingo, the gun sound is there.

I had the same issue a couple of weeks ago Rob while fitting a 6.1s into my Bandai hummel. This unit works a little differently to previous heng long boards which would produce the function sounds irrespective of what was plugged in, I finally worked that out and by a bit of trial and error sorted it. What I did was make a little looped jumper 2pin plug which fits into cn6 I think it is ( trigger ) even though i did not fit anything to the hummel that required this to be plugged in here it still needs to be activated. I've added a pic of which port the plug needs to be fitted, after I did this all the functions and sounds worked as intended

Thanks for that little update. Makes sense, so obvious (easy to say when someone else does all the thinking!)

Guess what l'll now be doing this weekend.

It was worth a try and it works, gun sound and hull recoil, so that's that issue solved.

I tried hooking up an led to the plug in the hope that a 5v pulse was generated that I could use for a muzzle flash, but that disabled the gun sound again, so I'll have to run round the led sockets with a multimeter and find something I can use.

Got to say, these boards are good! I suspect that they pinched Clarks tech. There are a couple of comments in the manual that highlight that this is HL tech, which they would not have any reason to state normally. Its also interesting that Clark has created a Google trick to divert a search for Heng Long TKV6.0 to his site. :P

Seems that there is a bit of a war going on?

I'll sort out the servo direction on the recoil next, and then sort the muzzle flash.

For the muzzle flash Rob I just used a 5mm led and plugged it into the led 1 port on the board which requires a 2 pin servo ( just + and - no signal ) type plug, all works fine including the gun sound

This is my Bandai hummel which is fitted with a 6.1s, it has good speed control and decent sound. You can see how the servo recoil works for the barrel and also muzzle flash

Cheers, Lee.

Thanks for the muzzle flash top, saves me prodding around with a multimeter.

By sheer chance I had a servo signal reverser module sitting in a parts box from years ago. I could never get it to work at the time, but I just plugged it into the HL board and it works perfectly. :haha:

This is turning out to be a pretty quick conversion, much easier than I thought it would be.

I have the V6.0 and V6.1s boards, and I'd say they're a quantum leap forward in HL terms. Adding a rear convoy light to my HL Panther, for example, was simplicity itself. What's more, there are enough extra lighting options for the Blackpool illuminations- compared with Tamiya models, that is, and earlier HL iterations.
One feature I've not tested (since I don't use IR) is the one where the BB function is nullified, electronically, when the HL Apple is fitted. I guess that's a safety feature, just as the two-button firing mechanism is.
I've also found the boards to be fairly robust- so far. That is, they can shift a fair bit of weight, without burning out. So far...
