heres some pics of the rx18s that have been problematic ::)

the first pics show a resistor that was fitted in the wrong way round and not even soldered  :o :o

the next show the sound boards not even soldered to the main board so some functions wouldnt work ;)

Eeeeek....some of that soldering looks horrendous Rob. I cant believe they made it through QC.
The soldering on my Blown RX18 looks a lot neater and better than those in the pics. Like I mentioned a while ago, my stugs have always behaved faultlessly straight out of the box and even when the RCComand stuff was taken out they still worked perfectly. It's only in the last install that the rx18 blew and that was with hardly any load.
I hear you regarding the Tower to Rx18 lead and to be honest I'm baffled as to what wiring is correct and what isn't. Bubbajoe mentioned something about flipping the plugs but as we know the plugs only fit in one way. So I think we need clarification on that one as I have only ever plugged things in in their correct orientation.
The pictorial Instructions have been changed on RCCommands website and thay now show what looks like an extra volume control in some of the pics. Having said that, that's the only difference between my wiring and RCCommands.

Nick.

very true nick the problem i think is in the wiring or the sound board not a great help im afraid but at least its looking like an rcc problem and not an install error ;)

Oh yeah, mine are the wrong way around !!!!! But the plugs match the sockets i.e. not forced in the wrong way. Perhaps the sockets are the wrong way around on the board....baffling.
As luck would have it I've just screwed my other Stug back together so I can't check that one just at the moment.

The Tanks driving test worked out fine. Just to reiterate. I've fitted the RCC board only, no IR led, no tower, no harness, no sound card and no sound card harnesses.
The tanks behaves perfectly well in driving and firing mode. The recoil block works as does the momentum facility. There are no signs or smells of overload and the H/L sounds work as per usual.
I've just realised that I left the H/l emitter plugged into the RX18, but I wouldn't have thought this would create a problem at this stage.
The Stug is getting charged up at the moment. When it's finished I'll test the driving some more.

I've gone through 2 battery cycles and so far so good with this cut down installation. I've also emailed Bubbajoe to see if he can help some more with the rest of the installation.
I haven't got a reply from Bill yet. I suspect he's leaving it until Monday.

That's the story so far Gents,

Nick.
