I had a little time last night to give to the Pz IV so I spent some fun time building accessories. The final deck and turret details should be in this week as well as some crew related items so I can really get to work on finishing up this lovely medium Panzer.

Thank you! I spent this evening working with getting the tow cable to look good and figuring out a strapping system to hold those cans in place. More fun to follow.

Lovin the cans on the turret mate, one of these just seems to need them...............
The "value gear" accessory kit is just that "value-gear" !........drums are nice, the jerry cans are outstanding, and both are robust.
I would add ballast to the inside of the jerry cans if I get another set, just to let them hang off ropes or cables better.
The fuel drums can take a fair old bit of heating & denting without splitting the seams, and it adds to the realism.

I like the Tamiya desert yellow paint, it seems to take on its own hue when the twilight casts over it, almost like it was formulated to do just that, and Im certain you will make the best use of it.

You just need that crew to top it off

There are a couple of photographs of fuel toting PZ4s in one of my books of reference,(Panzer 1V at War 1939-1945 ISBN 978-1-84884-681-4) one is of a PZ4 Ausf D with 8 jerry cans across the front of the turret as per your model (Page 25) and one is of an Ausf H with an auxiliary 50litre fuel drum lying across the engine bay behind the turret (Page 73),
Unfortunately neither picture is clear enough to show any details of how the jerry cans or the drum were secured,
But it is nice to have some sort of verification when it comes to detailing as I am sure you will agree .

Thank you, Sir. I have some reference pics I will use to build a short rack for the Jerry Cans to sit in and while I have seen pics of both rope and strapping used to hold them securely, I will make up some straps that will attach to the turret lifting hooks. One of the big fuel drums will be strapped to the back deck for a Long Day's drive into the Blue. I am still using the Model Masters Afrika Mustard and Dunkelgelb. One of my tasks today is to see the turret and deck primed and painted to match the lower hull. Once that is done, I will be ready to start adding the final detailing as it trickles in. ( hopefully, some will arrive today )

See my above reply to Herman about the rack, strapping and in some cases, rope used to hold those cans secure. Mine are fuel cans, not 'wasser' but I may repurpose a couple of them to have variety in the cans on display on the turret top. Check out the Trojca Book on the Pz IV A-F at War. On pg 117, there is a nice, full page shot of some Ausf 'D's in Africa with the type of turret rack setup I am going to use.

I would think those guys would have been smart enough to ONLY carry water on the top of the turret like that. Can you imagine what a .50 cal would do if those were filled with fuel? Burning, flowing gasoline is the last thing you want in large quantities right in the TC's face. It's your tank, Painless, but if it were me I'd only mount wasser cans on top of the turret.
