First tank purchase. Would like some guidance.
Hello,
So I’m getting ready to pull the trigger any day now but not sure I’m making the right choice. I’ve been doing a bit of research here and there and think I want to go with a Torro as it seems like they are fairly well regarded. I also like that they are RTR and a lot of metal. I live in Vegas and will be using it mostly out in the desert and such for now...
I’ve been going back and forth a bit but, this week, I’m feeling these two models:
The KV-1:

The KV-2, German paint job:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/324195544975
I also like the US M26 but the seller tells me it’s mostly plastic apart from the gearbox. Adding the metal tracks, wheels, etc. Will add about $300-$400 it seems and it makes the other two look like a good value.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/272313248560
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Both the KV-1 & 2 are torsion bar suspension which are the main reasons to go that route. Heavy tanks. Easy access to change batteries.
KV-1 is of a Russian tank, KV-2 is a german captured & modified KV-2 (Added a cupola).
Compared to the plastic spring suspension of the M26, both KV's are gods.
The KV-2 is pricey compared to the KV-1.
I have both metal/torsion bar suspension KV-1 & 2. I recommend either of them.

Much appreciate the info. I’m leaning a bit more towards the KV1 Die to price, but it doesn’t come with IR whereas the KV2 does (as per seller), however not sure if I’ll ever want to use that feature anyhow...Jarlath wrote:Both the KV-1 & 2 are torsion bar suspension which are the main reasons to go that route. I would go with the KV-1 out of the group personally.

Hi.
A couple of things to remember with Torro tanks.
When you get a crate with them, you pay a premium for it, that's the main reason the KV2 is so much more.
Torro is the same as Taigen, you could say Taigen is a Torro clone, and equally as good.
As for the M26, that's basically a 150 buck tank with a different paint job, a Heng Long would be just as good.

Have you looked at tanks from Imex?
They are the US Taigen dealers, very handy if you use them.

That’s a good way to look at it... Is there any difference in drivability or quality between the HL’s and Torros?Son of a gun-ner wrote:Hi.

Taigen and Torro are one of the same or two different companies?
