My Tiger Tank Project
Re: My Tiger Tank Project
Thanks, men! Painless, it was your jack photo that inspired me to do this. I’ll add the butterfly nuts tonight.

Re: My Tiger Tank Project
Good Morning,
I am glad to have been of use. ;o) You build something like that Jack and you say to yourself, "Well, I've done it and it turned out Ok but that level of realism is not needed on all your tanks" Then you find yourself niggling yourself into doing it again on another Build and that's when you realize that companies like ABER and VOYAGER are just glittering, intricate brass traps for the unwary modeler. ;o)
regards,
Painless

Those are the truest words I’ve read all morning!
Re: My Tiger Tank Project
Help! Somebody throw a rope down here. Deepest rabbit hole I’ve ever been in.
Here we go again with another upgrade part but it’s for function and not aesthetics. The Henn Tec idler system seems to be
one of the very best so I had to get one. My current idlers are wiggly and the Taigen tension system is fair but this HT system seems more robust and straightforward. Now I need to dig into ol’ Ugly and install it.
I know it’s posed up front and not back by the idler wheel but I just like showing the removed front road wheel

Re: My Tiger Tank Project
Just fitted one in my Trumpeter T-34/76 and it fit like a glove. A wee bit of drilling and presto a perfect solid fit

Re: My Tiger Tank Project
Good to hear. I’m waiting for Robert (the seller) to send a pdf file with instructions in English. For fun I tried reading the German instructions in a Benny Hill German accent. My wife doesn’t always get my attempts at humor.

Re: My Tiger Tank Project
Thats too funny Jim.
Honestly I think you will be able to figure the fitment out yourself. I've added them to several of my tanks so far and it's worked for me without instructions....

I have this uncanny ability to create my own difficulty and miss the most obvious. I’m sure I could figure it out but he offered to email the file so I’ll give it a good once over before scheduling the surgery.
Re: My Tiger Tank Project
Hi its a good upgrade , measure twice then drill so they say.
the idlers were the 1st fail on my HL panther so fitted a Hentec.

Re: My Tiger Tank Project
Quick update. Got my new idler system installed with very little trouble. I used a Dremel to enlarge the hole in the metal hull. Gouged the plastic a bit ( it sure how) in a place that won’t be seen so no big deal. I’m a very impatient modeler. Bad habit.
Anyhoos, the new system is installed and this evening I’ll give ol’ Ugly a test run. Here’s a pic comparing the stock Taigen system and the more robust Henn Tec and a couple of other pics. Yes, I gouged the plastic.
