If you don’t mind mr gunner, I think on this the more comparison photo we have the more we have to work off.

In other news. I’m finally drilling those wheels out that I have been putting off for weeks. Photos later

I think in this case, the easiest option is to make disks out of plasticard that fit properly, and still use the metal hatches.

So. The wheels. Looking more like the mkIII escort XR3i wheels than Sherman wheels, I am working with what I have, and what I have it a set of perfectly good Heng long wheels that needed hole in.

So that’s what happened.

Looks like I may have to bite the bullet on this one and buy some from shapeways

Hey Mick, you said that Michael was the second tank off the line and never left England, does that mean it never left England once he got shipped there from Detroit? If they were building prototype shermans in England that will be news to me, but something I would be very eager to learn about. As far as I know, the majority of Sherman's were built right here in Detroit, but I'm pretty sure they farmed the job out to shops All Over America so I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be working on them in England as well. World War II was kind of a community effort, right?
When FDR coined the phrase "The Arsenal of Democracy", he was talking about Detroit. Proud to live in the 2nd most violent city in America!!

It was the second off the production line at the Lima Locomotive Works, the US kept the first for evaluation, and the second was sent to London, these were the very first two Sherman's ever built, number one has long gone, but the number two then never left Britain to see any action, and that's why it is the oldest existing Sherman.
Sherman's were never built in Britain, only modified, like the firefly, Achilles etc.

I’m not, I’m going to try improve them a little by filing them out to the spoke lines but they so look pretty bad for something that should actually be a 5 spoke rather than 6.

I quite like my cortina wheels but I doubt they have a place on a Sherman.

True, they should be five spoke, but unless I do something drastic with my money, I think I'll do the same as Lee did with the Mato wheels and settle for six spoke wheels, luckily have a couple of sets of Mato plastic wheels.

Welcome to some rc combat dealers In this weeks episode we are building an early m4a1 bogie.

We didn’t have any early spoked wheels so we stuck some cortina wheels on it instead :thumbup:
