mobile phone scam

Post by fv432 »

just recieved this  ;)

If you receive a phone call on your mobile from any person, saying that he or she is a company engineer, or telling that they're checking your mobile line, and you have to press #90 or #09 or any other number, end this call immediately without pressing any numbers.

There is a fraud company using a device that once you press #90 or #09 they can access your 'SIM' card and make calls at your expense.

Forward this message to as many colleagues, relatives and friends as you can, to stop it.

Many thanks for your time regarding this matter, take care and regards.

This may be a hoax, along with the one about forwarding an e-mail to 10 or 20 of your contacts and include an address at Sony Erricsson and they will send you a laptop for free. I had that one about 5 times. The point of these is to scare and get you to send and clog e-mail servers. Take a look at hoax-slayers dot com.

I just had one from the FBI telling me that I have yet to claim my "free" ATM card that is pre-loaded with $1M. I'll get around to that one right after I have sent the $2000 to the florist (via Western Union) for the flowers at the wedding i have been asked to photograph!

I like the one about typing your PIN backwards at an ATM if you're being mugged, so the police will be alerted and rush to your aid. Clearly the brain dead muppet that came up with that one doesnt know the response time of my local police or didnt concider how many VIN must already be Palindromes  ::)

Still not as bad as the post 9/11 numpties trying to build up anti muslim hatred by claiming if you look in the Koran and go to chapter 9, verse 11 it tells of a mighty eagle being slain and 2 towers burning etc.... Because, of course the Koran and all holy scripts are layed out exactly like The Bible!  ::)

I get the impression these people dont travel much or experience a lot of other cultures.

I keep getting a spam email allegedly from the alliance and Leicester building society stating that my account with them has been suspended and would I furnish my details to reactivate the account.
trouble is I have never had an account with them.

also if anyone ever gets an email purporting to be from their bank or building society asking for details of accounts, Do not reply and either delete it as spam or forward it to your Bank or building society

I like the ones I get on the Russian sight I have for mail from Russia. My name obviously being a foreign name here, it's a real grin sometimes. They always start as "Hello my dear Egelbertus. I saw your profile etc etc etc" Ummm...what bloomin' profile?? Of course the photo is of some stunner about 18 or so, professing undying love etc etc but who needs money for English lessons or her mum's medical emergency and so on. Result?
A. I am happily married to the VCO. If we were any happier, we would be arrested.
B. At my age, chasing some 18 year old is like a dog chasing a car. What the devil do you do with it if you catch it?
C. See "A" and also understand VCO is half Russian and half Turkoman. Turkomani are known for being good with a knife.
D. Forget it, honey. I may have been born at night, but not LAST night.
E. Hit  delete.
The frightening thing is so many men fall for that foolishness. Me and VCO know two women here who make a pretty good living with that or similar scams.

I keep getting spam which is titled for one of my mates in my address book. The strange thing is the email is always address to him using his full name but i dont have him listed like that anywhere and his own email address doesnt even have his name in it!

So god knows how they got his details from or my email address?

You can check out every hoax email that has ever been generated at

http://www.snopes.com/

If everyone used this site then these emails would cease being circulated. I tend to copy the link into chain emails and hit Reply All. If everyone did this then the email would go back up the chain to the source.
