Battery guide?

Post by spongehoobtank82 »

Hey guys has anyone thought of doing a through battery guide? Or is there one already and I missed it? I see alot of conflicting information given out on how batteries work, like confusion between capacity, recommend discharge and what current electronics will actual draw as well as the difference between lithium polymer and lithium ion and lithium iron etc (I think alot of people see 'lithium' and think it's the same thing. Just thought a good guide might help, am not suggesting I do it as I don't want the flak as its always been a continuous subject someone with an actual electrical experience would be good

I wrote something here: https://radindustries.wordpress.com/201 ... batteries/

I am planning to expand it a bit.

That's a good detailed guide rad! That's what we need on here Image maybe a bit more detail regarding discharge rates, also I think alot of people have this idea that a lipo discharge rate is what it supplies all the time when it's plugged in and not what it's capable of delivering should connect device draw that much (there must be a more concise way to say that Image) but are you willing to take the flak and transcribe it on to here? Or I guess just a link to your site in a prominent place?

Hey, thanks, glad you liked it, lol.

I did not write about the discharge rate because, under my experience, that is not important at all for your tanks and trucks. If you were flying a drone, warbird, helicopter or a race car, the discharge is something you need to pay attention, but for our toys I never ever had any worry concerning that. All the batteries worked.

The discharge rate is what the battery is able to supply, and it usually has two values, the sustained discharge, and the burst (peak) discharge. Of course you can wire just one led and discharge will be next to nothing. But yet again, I found the discharge rate non important for our tanks. Whatever you buy make sure it comes from a trusted source and done.

No need to copy paste all what I wrote here, my blog is there for anybody who wants to read it, and also I dont think it deserves a prominence place in this, our forum, lol. But hey, thanks. Keep on visiting it, I keep building and publishing on regular basis.

I think of it was in prominent place it might save alot of confusion? Your right about discharge rate though it doesn't matter for our hobby as we don't use anything that will draw that much current Image but I have seen alot of people get hung up on it
