I do think it's fair for me to call myself an RC tanker and had you ever visited my house I think you would understand. RC tanks have pretty much taken over my entire life. I'm actually a machinist by trade, but given a choice I would spend every day as an RC tanker. I think it's the greatest hobby there is ( unless sex can be called a hobby), and I've met some really truly wonderful guys through this Hobby. It's taken me down roads I never imagined, 3D printing and several different aspects of photography. Like you, I'm no photographer but I do have a couple of decent cameras and I share your joy in producing an excellent still photo. And it always pleases me to welcome new people to the Hobby so I'm looking forward to your story and photos of your new tank when it arrives. I think you're going to truly enjoy this Hobby and it's always good to have someone else aboard that shares a love of photography. I'm far from an expert, but I've been in the RC tank hobby for seven or eight years now so if there's anything I can do to help you out, please don't hesitate to ask.
Cheers ears. I'm into macro photography, particularly photographing my pets (tarantulas, spiders etc) and really enjoy it. I am hoping to incorporate my camera into this tank. Sure it would stand up to macro shots everywhere but around the track I should be able to have a play. And of course pull out for portrait shots. Ideally though if I do have the patience I want make dioramas.

No, I don't have a beard.

I do have a massive mustache though.

I've been adding fpv cameras to my tanks for several years now and it really is a lot of fun. I also like to take still photos with a period effect, which is something my Canon T5 camera allows me to do. I set it for sepia tone and get some really good looking photos of the tanks. You can find quite a few of the fpv videos at my YouTube channel.

My "diorama" was an eighth of an acre of wooded area where I built a little village. Again, lots of videos of that at the youtube channel, like this one

Unfortunately, I no longer live there. When the local government made me give them $175 and be on probation for three months because I let my cat go outside I knew I had to go. I was hoping to move this fall to a place where I could build another town (can't be done at the current house) but then covid-19 came along and my hours got cut and it took too big a chunk out of the war chest so I'll most likely be where I am for two more years. But, all the buildings and stuff are stored in the basement so I just have to be patient. Too bad I really suck at being patient. @)
