This is a prized model that I wanted to build since the early 70's and it looks like its going to happen soon. My plan for this model is to build it stock as it comes out of the box and do a video of it running in its "free running on\off switch controlled, manual position steering mode). I had a few models that had these features in the early 70's. There was no ground model radio control in those days so if you had one of these motorized models you were high tech dude! Oh, and it was even better to run them in a heavy rain storm
That would be crazy today because the rain would likely ruin anything electronic in short order lol but a motor and battery has no such problem. As a matter of fact, they will continue to run even if completely submerged in water
I would set my steering to run in a large circle and actually make sure that it ran through a mud hole or water hole for extra thrills! I remember looking outside the garage door window at my motorized model Volkswagen running in circles in the heavy rain driving through a large puddle over and over..It beats playing with sticks in the mud like a lot of my friends were doing...they thought I was weird 
Maybe so lol. Anyway this model invokes those memories and if I had owned it then it surely would have been used in this manner.
After the thrill of running it in a rain storm in stock trim has passed, I will upgrade this model to ful Hobby grade Radio Remote Control.
