More Jagdpanther woes
More Jagdpanther woes
Hi guys, anyone tried to fit adjustable idlers to thir Jagdpanther. I have just recieved mine today and to say the very least the quality leaves a lot to be desired. The Imperial Modellbau items I have have Idler axles that at best are described as too short. one considerably shorter than the other. So much so that it is not possible to fit the wheel locknut as the thread does not protrude throught the wheel far enough to fit the nut. Any body out there had the same quality issues. whilst no doubt Kin at tankzone will replace said faulty items, it begs the question, are they worth the money. on this experience, I would have to say NO. Hopefully, the pictures have attached correctly and one can get the idea.

Not having much luck is an understatement. Begining to think moving into this hobby was a bad move. I am used to building R/C scale helicopters and never had this lack of quality with Vario. their parts / accessories always 1st class. O well maybe should have spent the money on Tamiya, never had problems with their kits. you live and learn. Andrew
Re: More Jagdpanther woes
I havn't fitted the adjustable idler, however having fitted just the metal idler, all it arrived with was a non threaded pin for fitting. Not a drama I thought, just use the original screw from the plastic idler, WRONG!!!!! That was way to short, then to top it all the metal idler would not fit over the axle stubb.
It ended up turning into a long job, having to dremmel down the stubb axle and then find and through a lot of dremmeling, get a longer screw to fit .
Makes me wonder if firms that sell these items have ever fitted them their selves or are selling Tamiya parts for Heng Long tanks.

Have got to agree there Dave. I was always lead to believe that any item / part etc, should be fit for purpose. these parts are very clearly not. Wouldn't mind so much if Tankzone would either return my call or respond to my e-mail. Maybe just sell this and buy Tamiya.

on a cautionary note I bought some Stuart spares from them ( wheel reinforcement brackets) Being german I thought theyd slot straight in. In teh end I ended up taking a hammer to it to make it fit. Never again. Ididnt even try to upgrade teh second Stuart in teh end as the first was so traumatic

Andrew mate. No wonder you're upset. I looked at the Jagd adjustable idlers pic, at the site that you bought them from They clearly show a well made and partially cast assembly.
Looking at the pic you posted
....Those look horrendous.

Nick is right if you bought them off of tankzone for £29.95 the pair you have show no resemblence to the ones in the picture I would demand a refund. >:(
