Hooben 1:16 fury sherman tank
Thinking of purchasing a Hooben 1:16 fury tank but have been told these are unreliable and prone to brake down please can anybody give advice
Re: Hooben 1:16 fury sherman tank
Personally I would look to either Taigen or Heng Long for a first tank, both are more reliable than hooben.
But it’s a dry heat!

Agreed. Hooben one is a step down from Heng Long.
If you want the HVSS suspension I have a Tamiya Sherman in the for sale section.

Have got two tanks already 1:16 Sherman and tiger both Heng long don't use tiger much but got my Sherman on my landing craft but want to do a fury tank got Brad Pitt figure to put on tank this will go on my landing craft aswell

Tamiya or Hooben then.
Having seen one in person I wasn’t impressed. The T55 and Elefant are good kits but need a lot of work to run well.

Best (but expensive) way is Tamiya lower hull and Taigen upper hull and turret

Re: Hooben 1:16 fury sherman tank
They're more "toy" grade than the HL etc models but a good starting point to upgrade to something else.
Controller is a bit temperamental, and doesn't like rechargeable AAs as they're fractionally shorter than the Duracells. On mine the instructions were also wrong re battery orientation, fortunately Haya has good after sales service.
Drive shafts don't match the normal Tamiya/HL shape so you can't easily swap tracks etc.
If you're planning on a major overhaul and rebuild then they're a cheaper option for HVSS suspension but lack spares and may be more fragile. If you're relatively new to modelling/tanks I'd look at a HL or Mato (metal) M4 and save the Hooben for later.

Best reviews you'll find are over on RCU but you'll want to look for Rich Johnson's assessment. I have one myself & concur that Hooben is exactly like HL was 15 years ago when their only focus was toy grade product.

It's funny because the T-55A even in its initial release seems better than this latest Fury release. It's like they are going backwards in technology. Their tanks are getting more toylike instead of less.

Its because their focus now is on promoting RC tank hobby through local education. Hooben has been working on this for several years since its a huge market in China, especially now given the present leadership. Even HL recently jumped into the fray.
