Looking for information on the barrel recoil servo for the Taigen Tiger I mid .....pretty sure I’m going to have to replace it.
Sooo looking around and find numerous servos online but wondering about the difference in them, the Taigen servo seems one of the more inexpensive plastic ones whereas some I’ve seen online are made with metal gears and seem of a higher quality. My main problem is figuring out which one would be best and would be the best fit in my Tiger I
I’m assuming the servos are all the same in operation the the servo board doing the actual controlling function.
Anyways anyone give me an idea of any difference in them and which should be a good replacement.

Re: Taigen Tiger servo
Hi, it's pretty simple indeed. The size matters. Basically any metal gear micro servo will do. Some may need trimming off the screw plates for a better fit in the location.
It's totally not worth buying the Taigen plastic one.
Talking about the Taigen recoil, I have to say in Tiger 1 it is rubbish. I ended up plugging the servo cable in the elmod board directly to have it working perfectly. So if you think the servo is to blame you may be wrong. There is a control board in the turret for the servo. I think that part is the culprit.
Also the wire that does the moving needs to be absolutely straight to work well.
The original setup was working very poorly. At least that was my case.

Started as a tank man.
2x early Tiger 1's made from parts of HL, Taigen, Mato and whatever I saw suitable.

Re: Taigen Tiger servo
Agree with Renoir , its how the servo is controlled. Elmod board for setting up a servo is superb , everything you need to adjust is simple. Some plug and play units should be called Plug and Hope it Plays. I buy job lots of servos , old aircraft or car ones off ebay. Some are good ,some wasted. But when you buy a bunch of them in different sizes you should always have one that fits. Make sure the servo is always parallel to the barrel .

Thanks for the information Renoir planned on disassembling the turret again this weekend and will look at the Elmod board.will also pick up a couple of servos at a local hobby shop.RenoirLV wrote:Hi, it's pretty simple indeed. Will agree that the recoil in the Taigen Tiger I is indeed really poorly done compared to other setups I’ve read up on.

One other question, noticed the servos all have a number on them is this a designated for the basic size?
