HL Smoke Generators

Post by Growbag »

Morning all

Before anyone says it I know Heng Long smoke units arent the best in the world but does anyone know if they produce a fully proportional one?

Ive heard they do but cant find one anywhere.
Any info like always will be much appreciated.

Hi, judging by the picture this is their attempt at making a proportional smoker. I mean the one with two jst connectors. Image

Hi, Heng Long do produce a Proportional Smoker but If you have a normal smoker you can easily convert it with a couple of strokes of a soldering iron by purchasing an upgrade from

Did you mean this?

I'm quite impressed with how it transforms the stock smoker. I recommend this board. But be careful with wiring. I got it wrong the first time.

The difference appears to be that the smoke unit has one constant power supply but the pump unit has a variable power supply from the v6.0 mfu. Where does this 3rd party unit get its variable supply when using v5.3 or earlier?

It is also connected to the gearbox motors. By design to both, but in practice one is enough and safe. The motors provide variable input.

The pre V6.0 non proportional smokers when hooked up to the upgrade circuit board are connected to the gearbox motors which means when the motors are accelerated the smoker reacts exponentially.

In that case I'll bet you could simply rewire the stock smoker by removing the leads that go to the pump from the little junction board and add leads from one motor to the pump. Worse case you might stew the pump motor!

I suspect it won't be that simple. The board is not just a bunch of connector lines. It has some micro chips on. The pics usually show the upside. The bottom is far more complicated. That tells me it won't work directly and all you may get is a toast pump motor.
