Need Help With Petrol RC Car

My sister has asked me to fix a petrol powered rc car for her, but i dont have any experience with them but thought i would have a look anyway, the problem is it wont start, it is brand new never used, it has fuel in it and i have checked the glow plug works but when you pull the pull start nothing happens and then if you pull it again it is really stiff and you have to take the glowplug out of the engine to free it again but as soon as you put the glowplug back in the pull start gets stiff again and im at a loss, does anybody have any idea what i need to do to get it going, it is a Nitro Rush Evo RTR.

Any help would be appreciated

If only things were that simple ::) Altho it is brand new he did not get it new from a shop so their for cannot take it back which is why i am trying to fix it.

hi there,

id check for the simple things, such as something sticky in the pull start mechanism, thats whats happened to mine a few times (not the same model as this though). Also check that the engine isnt flooded with fuel, and that the air intake sponge filter itsnt too full of the weird liquidy stuff some shops put in it. you could even check the main feed of fuel into the cylinders, my main fuel feed is a visible tube, check if there are any bubbles in the tube. if ou dont think there is any fuel in the engine, push down the little button thing thats on a spring, this pumps fuel round the system.

p.s. oh and one other thing, are you sure your putting the glow plug in correctly or far enough ? mine you have to put in till it looks right, then force it in a bit more till it clicks in, and then spanner it in. Also, is your electric glowplug igniter charged fully ?

    Sounds like it is flooding itself as soon as you start trying to crank it over.If it gets flooded it is best to pull the glow plug out----If you can  (don't know what kind of fuel tank you have on the car) tip it upside down and turn it every angle you can to get all the excess gas out of the crankcase and exhaust manifold.Also crank it over while doing this a few times if you can---That should get everything cleared out of the motor.I would turn the needle valve all the way in (closed) and then open it 1 & 1/2 turns----Check the glow plug again and make sure it glows hot right away--(if the plug looks good reinstall it ) And try starting it again--If it fires and quits right away open the needle valve another quarter of a turn--keep doing this until it runs consistantly and then fine tune it with the needle valve.

But it really sounds like the major problem was it is just flooding.----

we call them nitro fuil cars over here and when its brand new you have to pull the starter cable with the glow plug battery icniter  plugged in pull the cord around a 100 times yes its a lot but you have to break it in that way . I built RC stadium race trucks electric and nitro powered before I did tanks .also start with the needle setting on carb that the directions call for .

Cheers guys some good tips their, the engine is definitely flooding and the sponge is soaked so i'll give it a good clean out tomorrow and see if that makes any difference, the glow plug igniter is fully charged and the glow plug itself works fine, the needle valve was fully open so i'll also change that.

If none of this works i'll be back with more questions

Just a small tip on the air filter sponge. Don't dry it out as it needs the sticky oil to prevent dust from entering the the engine but it should not be overloaded.

Hope you sort it soon. The advice offered to date is sound. I have 2 1/8 scale offroad buggies - great fun!

If the filter is to wet it will not get any air .

Sorted the filter as it was ringing wet, but what i have noticed is the exhaust is full of what looks like oil, and when you tip the car it trickles out, is this right
