Mg 42 accessories

Post by Ragnar »

Just in the last day or 2 I swear I came across a website that had ammo belts for the mg 34/42 now for the life of me can’t recall which site it was and am hoping someone can help me out? Actually looking for those plus ammo box’s and the canvass bag for the spent cartridges,if in fact these were even used on turret mounted mg’s.
Saw the bags for the spent cartridges though can’t recall whether they were a manufactured item or scratch built. Just know right now my mg 42 looks kinda bare and impotent sitting up there lol.

The Canvas bag for spent cartridge cases is called a "Gurtsack" and both it and the MG34/42 Ammo Belts are available from ----
http://www.afvmodeller.com/shop/
AND Click on Accessories,
This site specialises in Panzer 4 parts From full Maybach V12 engines to Ammo Belts but much of what they sell has uses on other German Tanks of the period
A tip--If you run a paint brush over the tips of the bullets on the belt with Bronze coloured paint it makes a world of difference.
I do not know if they sell to the USA but do remember if you are buying from a country in the European Union that Value Added Tax is automatically included UNLESS you remind them that you are in the United States and as vat is 19% per cent that's the cost of the postage saved if you get the tax removed. :haha:
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Jarndice, I thank you for this information. I saw Ragnar's post and thought that I also remembered the gurtsacks, and other detail items. I could not find the info or remember what post here had the info.
Thanks again!

Glad I could help,
If you use a Pin Vice and a small file you can open up the breech of the MG34/42 and feed the belt through the weapon with one end of the belt in the "Gurtsack",
It will look quite good for just a couple of minutes work.

If you buy figures from AliExpress, make sure to scroll through all of them. you will find the same figure at different prices. it can make quite a difference.
